Fake IRS So I just got done arguing with a rude IRS agent. He called and left me a message saying I needed to call them…

I was sexually harassed by one once... I usually ignore the calls but for some reason I answered. He had such a thick accent and it was total bs. But I told him I know this is a scam and put me on the do not call list and never call me again and he started saying super gross things about putting things in my mouth and I must be good at fxing and he was gonna come find me to shove his ? down my throat... Etc... I freaked out and screamed at him and then told him to go f his self and he said he would rather wait until he finds me then started moaning... I hung up and started crying and called the do not call list and my local state people and they said there is nothing they can do BC they purchase prepaid phones and just not answer if u don't know the number. They didn't care I was sexually harrassed or anything! He says it happens all the time. I was sick and do upset I couldn't stop crying.

Another thing the IRS never does is contact anyone via email. I see scam emails for that every year it seems and I always report them to the IRS fraud dept which is on the website.

Yes they did this to one of my clients while I was with her & I answered the phone. Omg I was so pissed!! They are so rude! Demanded a debit card to pay off this made up debt. By the end of the call he said "go F*** your father you wh•**re" I was just shocked. Bunch of a holes.

I had a similar call! Mine was about an old bank debt from 2005. I was 16. She only knew my maiden name and my old address and told me that I owed $2000 to this bank or they would have me arrested. I told them I didnt have 2000 to pay them. So they decided they would seattle for $500 if I paid them right then over the phone. They had me freaked out at first but when they asked me to pay right then I knew it was a scam. They harrassed me and my family members for months. I changed my number and they blocked it from calling them. I never got anything in the mail.

I got that call too. It knew it was fake cause I'm a lawyer and deal with lots of fraud. But this has to be horrible to others. What a disgusting person to do that. And they aren't even good at it!

I have owed the irs about 1800 dollars thanks to h and r block and the lady who obviously had no clue how to do taxes and we didn't buy the protection.. Anyways long story short they did send us a bill we paid on it for a while and then they told us we could wait until the next year and they would just take the remainder out of our refund the following year.. It was no big deal and they def aren't threatening jail in those kind of situations. Glad you realized it was fake!! People are nuts these days trying to scam everybody!

Oh my! I googled the number... this is beyond crazy. I feel so bad for the older folks who get the calls. He had me so scared.

Google the phone number he called from and I guarantee you find similar stories. 110% SCAM.

Just for future reference, 9 times out of 10, you will receive documents in the mail any time the IRS has to reach you with something of importance. When debt is turned over to collections you receive documents in the mail as well. NEVER EVER give out any banking information over the telephone! I'm glad you didn't give in to the scam.

I was literally hyperventilating. Something just didn't sit right. So once he hung up i googled Irs and called a couple numbers and then called the police department to make sure i was free and clear. My hormones are already crazy... lol this was the last thing i needed. I took some Tylenol and put a cool towel on my face to get my puffy eyes to go down.I am feeling much better now.

I owed the is for 3 years due to a screw up and they never called me. They did send certified letters through the mail but they never threatened warrants or anything. I just didn't get anything back for several years because they took what I owed from my returns

This is a scam! I had the same number call me and I giggled the number and it's fraud. I'm so glad you didn't fall for it!

They said they did back in june then one in August and they had my very old address.

Someone called my husband saying we owed 8000 - when he questioned them, they got angry - apparently it's happening a lot now :/

Yeah, clearly fake. Credit card debt collectors will do that (in violation of the law), but the IRS would not, nor any other legit organization. They will not harass like that, they definitely will not demand money over the phone (agents don't handle the money anyway), and jail threats are just pure bs. Also, my general rule - if you don't know the number, google it before answering or calling back.

Yes, I believe you. I would be scared too, but wouldn't they send you a letter first and is the irs even suppose to be that mean n rude?

I was the scarest feeling in the world. I've never owed the irs or have ever been to jail. He was very convincing.
