CD help please.....

So we are doing cloth for the first time with DD due any day. I bought new fst & used nb size covers to use for the nb stage. For after that I have some is AIO, AI2, pockets, & a mix of microfiber & bamboo & just microfiber inserts that I bought all used. I am VERY allergic to bleach, so I can't strip them that way so what do I do? & do fst need to be washed multiple times before use? I have an energy efficient top loading washing machine with an agitator & will be line drying. Also, is there anything special that I need to do with cloth wipes? I made them all out of fleece & flannel & will be just using water with them. Thank you all so very much in advance!

You will want to rinse first, I started with the least amount of detergent in wash cycle and increased as needed. Don't use the short cycle on the wash, use regular cycle!

Yup wash all together, BUT not the bamboo if it's new (assuming its second hand as well). If so, your fine to wash together but FYI if you buy bamboo or hemp brand new they cannot be washed with diapers until properly prepped.

Stripping is harsh on the diapers regardless of which way you do it so best to avoid unless need be. For your detergent amount, really just have to play with it until you find the right amount for your washer. Some gals use to line 5 of tide, I find they don't rinse clean so only use to line 3 myself

And yes, it's overwhelming and sometimes quite daunting but there are some amazing ladies in this group to help!

Okay, thanks so much ladies. From what the Moms I bought the second hand stuff from said they all had good wash routines, but I thought I was supposed to strip anyway. I'm so new to all of this that sometimes it overwhelms me. So, I just throw all of the one size diapers & inserts in together & wash on a hot cycle? I've already washed everything else. We use free & clear detergent, would I just use 1/4 of the normal amount?

I threw my FST's in for 2-3 washes prior to using them, but I don't think you have to.

I'll be honest I've bought a lot of used and never stripped... just a good wash first, but I'm lazy that way lol.

And fst only need washed once in my experience. Same with your wipes.

Why would you be stripping? Are they second hand? I would ask their washing routine, and honestly don't strip unless needed. Just wash in a hot cycle, that's what I did. Strip only if a problem, like they didn't have a good wash routine or you find leaks. If you can't use bleach grovia has stripping stuff but I think it's more expensive.

Cloth wipes, nothing special just always wash before using!

Probably a cray question to ask, but when did y’all start to wash your newborns clothes and putting them away? Like I’ve been getting clothes since I found out what I was having but I haven’t taken off tags yet or washed anything. I’m 30 weeks. It’s crazy because with my other 3 kids I didn’t really wash a lot of their stuff at first (got lazy) ALSO what laundry detergent did you use if you didn’t use Dreft? Because i saw Pyrex for Baby an didn’t know if anyone tried it??
