It's so hard to know why your water broke early. I think it's encouraging that you didn't have an early water break the second time around. Same thing with holding out to 39 weeks the second time. I think that should be encouraging too.

As far as a vbac, typically a body will labour as a second labour up to the point where your first labour ended. If that was 8cm, then probably you'd go a bit faster to then and then slow down to follow a first birth pattern (slower dilation, longer pushing, etc) but I don't know what difference it could make to have had that first labour with a premie.
