Mamas of other Little’s
I have an 11 month old and I posted this in my April 2017 group but they did not respond to me yet, so I was gonna try here and see what I could come up with! So thank you in advance for any responses!
I am a pediatric ICU nurse and I am by no way shape or form giving you medical advice and all advice should come from your doctor.
Since I cannot give medical advice I will tell you what I would do....Does he have any other symptoms besides fever and irritability? 103 is no longer considered a low grade fever and would warrant treatment. I would treat with fluids (water or pedialyte), luke warm bath and alternate between Tylenol
And Motrin. No warm blankets or warm clothing and plenty of rest. If the fever does not decrease and continues to stay at 103 or higher I would insist on being seen. Also watch for any additional symptoms.
He’s a little better! Still a fever but hasn’t reached above 100. No teeth have broken through but I can see white on his top gums so it’s coming soon!
I was told teething fevers are no higher than 101. I would try to get to get him seen because it could definitely be something more than teeth if it’s that high. Ear infection maybe?? I would get him checked out....I that because currently my daughter is super sick and was diagnosed with pneumonia, so I’m super paranoid about fevers now. Not tying to freak you out, just telling you what I would do.
It may be a virus which would just have to run it's course. Just keep an eye on the fever. Children are different than adults when it comes to a temp being dangerous. If it goes over 104 then do what you can to cool him down.
My 4 year old just had a fever for the past 2 days. Day two was 103.5 with Advil. I wouldn't worry too much unless it gets over 104. Hope this helps.
Mamachey - I thought the same thing!! I was thinking it may be so we as mamas don’t like assume that a high fever is just teething since it could be something else. But I read so many things that said the dr said that and then they brought their babe in and the doc was like “I can’t find anything wrong, must be a virus or something” but like they obviously have giant square molars cutting through their little gums lol so I mean idk ? I’m not a doctor but I think it’s pretty obvious ?
Thanks for all the responses! I’ve talked to multiple mamas who said their babies get high fevers with teething. I wonder why peds don’t say it’s possible that it’s just teething (maybe so we don’t discount a high fever as just teething when it could be something else??)
He woke up this morning without a fever so hopefully it broke last night!
Tylenol does t work for my kids for some reason only Motrin/ ibuprofen . So maybe try that also I like it because I can give it 1-2 times a day instead of every four hours .
My kids all got fever for their teeth and very stinky bms , irritable and lower energy until
I give the ibuprofen.
Thank you Andrea. I’ve been alternating Motrin and Tylenol but it’ll only bring his fever down for an hour or so and it goes right back up. He’s sleeping in a diaper and tee shirt right now but like he’s hot all over ? my poor baby!
My son it cutting his canines and right on cue, he ran 103 fever last night. It just isn’t true that fevers about 101 aren’t teething. It’s happened almost every single time with him, so I know he isn’t sick!
