Any Crossfitting mamas out there?
I’m 5w3d with my second and planning on Crossfitting until I can’t do it anymore!
Yeah I’m a bit like that. I do headstands in yoga and have a fear of going over now but I’m sure I’d be fine. People make you over worry about pregnancy - you can’t have certain foods or coffee or go in jacuzzis and stuff and it makes you paranoid that you have to just go for gentle walks and stuff but I get nothing out of that. I’ve eaten much healthier again today after working out last night and felt good all day.
The out of breath thing happens so early doesn’t it! I don’t think it gets worse though, I’m 14 weeks and feel much better now and the out of breath is no worse but I couldn’t have done circuits at 8 weeks I felt too sick! I still trained last pregnancy during the first trimester but this time I’ve been a lot worse! Making the most of the second trimester for sure! Xx
I do crossfit and I had a hard time with my breathing yesterday with double unders, push ups and power cleans but just did what I could and used about the same weight as before. There’s been quite a few pregnant women in my gym lately and they’ve all worked out until the end. Most started modifying around 25 weeks but one of my friends who has been doing crossfit for 5 years was still doing heavy snatches until 38 weeks! From what I’ve heard just listen to your body and keep hydrated. Most coaches can help with how to modify. I got my first rope climb the day before I found out I was pregnant and I’m so happy I did it because now I probably won’t feel comfortable doing it ... just in case...
I’m a bit paranoid about the high intensity. I feel fine doing it but is it safe to train that hard? I get so out of breath now it’s hard going. I really don’t want to lose my fitness. I half assed my training last time and did easier classes and I lost all the muscle tone on my legs and stuff. I’d like to keep up my normal training if I can but I do get a bit paranoid about mc. I’m 14 weeks now so it should be fine?
CrossFit is just high intensity training: running, weight lifting, body workouts like squats and pull-ups, ab movements, biking, rowing, etc.
All movements can be scaled as needed so you do less weight or different movements as your body needs! It’s a lot of fun!
Yes I'm 19+5 with twins and still doing crossfit ? I plan to keep going for as long as I can. I have amazing coaches who scale/ change workouts for me if needed. I'm at the stage now where I don't lift for PBs and at some workouts I'm a lot slower but I'm still out there doing it
Well I told the coaches today. They were so excited! I was just so breathless during the warm up and there were only 5 of us in class so I felt they would notice something was up. I felt so much better after the workout (even though I was so slow!). No gas today and still no nausea. I’m going to enjoy every day I feel good enough to go
