Has anyone started baby food?
I'm waiting until 6 months (but not against moms starting sooner - whatever is best for each individual baby!!), but I got my baby food maker in yesterday and tested it out and it was so much fun haha! I can't wait to start making all kinds of stuff for Ro!
I found this article about feeding babies with some research in it if anyone is interested. There are benefits on both sides. I was surprised to read risk of allergies goes down with earlier feeding of solids since I had heard the opposite.

I got the sippy cup at babies r us. I just put a little water in it and she loves playing with it and it seems she gets a little water, but not much. I tried to attach a picture of her with it but not sure if it worked.

At four months I started with cereal, oatmeal. The next week I did barley cereal, and this week quinoa. My doctor said grains first because they are gentlest on the belly, then greens, then fruits, then strained meats. He gave us the go ahead to feed her. We are going slow with it since we started early. Tablespoon or so for breakfast and dinner. It has been great so far. She is interested and we also give her a sippy cup (found one for four months) and let her practice with that during her meals. My sister had trouble getting her daughter off the bottle so thought introducing her to cups early might be good for me later.
Probably should have mentioned that I'm not breastfeeding (supply sucked and couldn't ever get it back up?) so he's all formula so no weaning for us
But he always watches me eat and smiles and laughs and opens his mouth himself anytime I give him his paci so I'm thinking I may start him at 5 mos just to see if he likes it
My paediatrician suggested giving my baby cereal starting now because guidelines are changing for when to begin feeding babies. So I give her a teaspoon of oats cereal, watered down with my breastmilk at night so it's almost like soup. She seems to enjoy it so far and she's waking up less to feed at night.
My baby is 4 months 8 days, I started a week ago with fruits and then veggies,
Im trying to figure out how to make homemade cereal (oat,rice,quinoa..)
we as family changed last year completly the way we eat, so we go more real food, whole food, organic...etc
Sooo, baby was eating banana, drops of orange juice, apple, advocato, tiny bits, he wont eat more than a spoon by now?
3rd baby but 1st time doing this way
I have tried a few things and it hasn't seemed to bother him. First mushed avocados, oatmeal, and mashed potatoes. His favorite was the potatoes. He actually does better the thicker food instead of making it soupy. With all my kids I do baby led weaning and I slowly start them by giving things here and there. I have bought him a few baby foods for when we are out to eat and he can't eat what I'm having to hold him off from nursing till we get home. But of course if he wants to nurse I have no problem doing my there, he just gets cranky in his seat sometimes.
Veer is 4 months 1 week and we just got the green light to start the solids! He's been showing a lot of interest in food as well. I'm going to follow the same pattern with him as I did with my daughter.
Cereal (oatmeal) till he's 5 months with occasionally adding mashed bananas or pears. Once he'll hit 5 months I'll start with pears, peaches, squash, pumpkin, peas etc. While also starting bland Indian Vegetarian Food (whatever I make for us Veer will get the same pureed) we eat tons of veggies, lentils etc. My daughter was eating everything we ate by the time she turned 1 and I'm hoping Veer will too!!
