I just went to the dr today and she said 4-6 months but I plan on waiting till 6. With my daughter I gave her bananas first and she loves veggies. My son I did veggies first and he pretty much didn't eat a veggie till he was 3! It's not always true that giving it first will make them like it or be better eaters. Just always offer healthy foods and that's about all you can do lol

I just met with my pediatrician. He's young. He told me I could start solids as soon as 3 months. They are thinking waiting is what is causing allergies. He sited there were a bunch of recent studies. He said if LO pushes it out with their tongue try again in two weeks. I aim on waiting anyways. But he said they can eat everything we eat except milk and honey.

I have been seeing a lot of articles on this lately and some even saying to wait till 8 months. I started my first two daughters at 4 months and they are horrible eaters. They are so picky and hardly eat anything. So with daughter number 3 I am thinking of waiting till 8 months and then starting her off with what I'm eating within reason. I'm hoping I can get one kid to eat well. ? It's getting very tiring making 3 different meals a night let alone if I had to make 4.

My sister's pediatrician told her 4 months as long as her son could sit straight, had good head control, and had interest in food

My pediatrician doesn't want to have me start solids until he's 6 months which was disappointing because I was looking forward to him trying a few things here and there if he showed interest at 4 months

They say now to start with iron rich foods as anemia is an issue. I waited till 6 months with my son and did lentils and the rice cereal. He also liked pureed ground beef even though it looked like poop.

Definitely start with veggies first because once they taste the sweet fruits you have a hard time getting them to eat the bland veggies.

My pediatrician said we could start at 4 month since she is already showing strong interest in food now. I'll start with bland foods and oatmeal first.

Cereal has no nutritional value. It will only stretch babies tummy out and will then require more breastmilk/formula. Don't rush these babies :) all they need is their milk!

Usually 4 months what my Dr told me but I've given my kids cereal by spoon at 3.5 months and they loved it and he gave me the ok to do it with Kinleigh at 3.5 months. Every Dr is different but I was always told 4 months

I heard anywhere between 4-6 months. I am going to the doctors tomorrow so I'm going to ask. My 11 week old girl eats 3oz of breast milk and 3oz of formula every 3 hours and never seems satisfied, so I'm thinking I'm gonna have to start her on cereal soon.

Really? I had always heard to introduce at 4 months!

We don't talk to the pediatrician much but the last I heard it was 4-4.5 months. Sheesh there's too much info out there it's hard to know whats the right thing to listen to.

I'll wait until 6 months I guess lol

Usually not until 6 months or when they seem ready. My Dr will tell me he's ok to at 3 months if he seems hungry after milk but she's old school lol I usually start with oatmeal mixed with their milk because the bland taste doesn't overwhelm them, then a bland green veggie like avocado, green beans. First fruit is usually bananas. I like to wait till they can eat finger foods, I don't do many baby foods. Also I heard baby rice cereal is bad for babies so I will be skipping that.

and then when you do introduce start with one single food at a time for 3 days to make sure there are no allergies

Babies guts are not ready for solid food until 6 months. Starting sooner could cause digestion problems now or down the line. The saying is "food before one is just for fun" but it's not recommended before 6 months

Introducing peanuts/Peanut butter

Introducing peanuts/Peanut butter "The National Institutes of Health announced Thursday that a panel of allergy experts recommends that parents introduce peanut-containing foods into the diets of babies as young as 4 to 6 months." Am I the last to know?
