For anyone following our story
We took Roman to the doctor on Friday and they weighed him and he had gained 9 ounces from Monday to Friday! We couldn't believe it! He had been gaining about 2 ounces per week or less and they have been super worried about it but this last trip he gained 9 ounces and we couldn't be any happier! We're still not up to birthweight, but we're on our way in the right direction!
He gained 7 ounces! Yay! Only 1.5 oz from birth weight now!! :)
Way to go Roman!!!

I had a scheduled c section so I'm not sure about IV fluids (I opted to drink fluids instead) but I bet that could have something to do with it! Our pediatrician told us that sometimes babies are just plain weighed wrong. Maybe the nurse stuck her stethoscope down in the scale and just didn't realize it, etc. But I'm not sure if that's what happened in our case or not.
He definitely still eats a lot! Haha probably more than ever! I was exclusively breastfeeding but our pediatrician wanted to make sure he was getting the ounces so I went to pumping and bottle feeding and adding in two bottles of formula per day. (About 4-5 oz total) Once we added the formula, that's when his weight shot up. We wanted to use something most like breast milk without a lot of added sugar so we went with Earths Best brand. It was hard for me to add in formula because I felt like my milk was failing but he's seeing a huge benefit from it and I still get to breast feed everyday and give him multiple bottles of breast milk so it worked out!
But that's just our story - every mama does it different to cater to their LO! I have your LO in my prayers! Praying for a huge growth!! ❣️
Thank you for that encouragement! My little boy hasn't regained his birth weight yet and he's 17 days old. We have to go back in at three weeks for a weight check and I'm praying he's gained a lot! He's been eating a ton lately! Did you notice a hanger in appetite when your son gained the 9 ounces??
Two reasons I think he hasn't gained it back yet- 1. He's exclusively breastfeeding and 2. I was induced and I've been reading that if you have IV fluids during labor your baby could have an artificially high birth weight.
Have you found that to be true with your situation too?

Still haven't told DH... ...that we're expecting! ? Tonight we were at dinner with my brother and SIL and they just had a baby 4 weeks ago. She said something about babies and DH replies, with such an attitude, "uh no! Never again, we are done!"
As we laid our precious baby boy down to sleep, our hearts ached. We still have questions and don't understand why this happened to our sweet innocent baby boy. What we do know is one thing. We are LOVED! God has surrounded us with gentle hands of comfort to help us get through such a hard time in our lives. We couldn't be anymore grateful for the friends and family we have. Baby Dakota is safe and sound in the arms of our Heavenly Father. He had a purpose so great that we can't even begin wrap our heads around it. My husband and I are just so thankful for the love and support. 8.4.15 💙
