Taking babe in public

How long should I wait to take babe out? I know it's allergy season and flu season so I'm leery but he has doctor appointments and what not and then we needed to go to target for some things and we took him inside so I'm curious what kind of exposure he can have.

I just keep the carseat cover on and hope the germy air isn't being mixed with his clean safe germ free air. Lol if that makes sense. I try to keep the baby at home with dad while I quickly run to the store but I have brought him out a handful of times. He is 16 days old and was jaundice aswell. He still is but his levels are getting lower. The jaundice thing has nothing to do with the germ factor though.

Haha queenybee that's so crazy! We were at Starbucks and had a guy come over to us and look in his car seat and say awwwww look how cute that baby is I won't touch it I promise I just wanted to come look at him.

Lol I was like thank you because I would have bit your arm off if you had tried.

We went out after a week of being home. He had a doctor appointment and we had errands to run and stopped at the mall. As much as I'd love to wait til the first shots like other people, it's just not possible. We have things to do and I am not going to sit locked up in the house for 2 months ? when we go out we just make sure no one touches him (we baby wear or cover his car seat with a sheer blanket so people don't get tempted) and we are sure to wash our hands after everything.

Lol

I was carrying my bubs as he cried so I lifted him out of his pram and as we looked at the coffee aisle and my mouth watered this French lady came upto us saying something in French and getting really up close to me ( mind you I don't like people within arms length of me at all like seriously get out of my personal space. When pregnant if people reached to touch my belly I slapped their hand and honestly people get a fright and are like oh my how could you etc etc and I'm like well you can sexually assault me or I can remove your hand from me. And they are like huh ... but any unwanted physical touching is sexual assault lol )

So anyway I'm a prude just don't get near me or my kids ?

This lady put her hand to touch my baby's face as he was on my shoulder burping and mind you I was like 6 days pp from cesarian i dodged her side ways and gave her a dirty look she was like I just wanted to touch ( in french) and I snarled at her

Anywhooooo I really don't think people have a right to touch my kids if they are a baby or my oldest like what is your business in touching my kids and you haven't even asked me or spoken to me you just walk up with your nasty germ filled hands that you probably didn't wash after you whent to the toilet ... no thanks go away ?

Wow thanks everyone for the responses!! I feel much better about taking him out.

I get cabin fever baaaad but my DH always goes with me because I had a c sec and have a driving restriction and can't lift the car seat. We've kept him covered and in the car seat when we go places so people can peer in but not touch or anything. (It's amazing how often you have to tell random people not to touch..)

I have a Moby wrap and plan on using it as soon as I can figure the dang thing out lol.

If you keep the carrier covered so that people don't stick their heads in and avoid rush hours it should be fine. Also wash your hands after being in stores so you don't catch bacteria.

Ermmm I only take baby's out when they need to like if Dh and I both have to be out otherwise I send Dh.

Just to get a walk and no cabin fever I'd go out at night local with the pram and walk at a late time so no one touches baby etc.

If you want or need to go out you can put a plastic rain cover over the pram or a cotton sheet soemthing like a Muslin blanket that way people won't see baby and won't cough or sneeze on him

End of the day if you go out germs will be on your hands and things too so I'm a firm believer in taking précautions but what will be ...will be kind of thing.

My second baby I didn't take anywhere I left hospital like 10 hours after birth on his 3rd day he had a cold and he was at home with me Dh and grandparents no one was going out because it was snowing and none of us had a cold.

Mind you the house was warm... how did he get Sick??? I have no idea

I think we quickly stopped at the grocery store for food after I left the hospital when my first was born. With my second, I drove to the store by myself at 2 days PP because I was alone and my husband was deployed. After my third I don't think we left the house for two weeks, and with my 4th I left the house a little after 1 week. I try to stay home for a while unless it's a absolutely necessity. Having older kids makes it tough. I wore all of them in baby carriers to keep them away from people.

I also have to take baby out early. Like a week old because I have other kids who play sports and once my husband leaves for a month I'm on my own. I have a full car seat cover to keep people out of my babies face and even a mosquito net that goes over the seat, it came with the cover and thought it was pretty cool for games nights.

I will have to take the baby out almost immediately. I have other children that have activities. I will keep him covered. If I'm worried about people (relatives mostly) touching him, I'll just baby wear him.

We take lo (1 week) out but we make sure to keep his carrier covered from nosy people and I wash my hands or use hand sanitizer before I touch him.

Ill probably take him for a few walks, completely covered in his pram. Otherwise we will try and avoid any exposure until 6 week vaccinations. I'm not prepared to take that risk!

He was two weeks early but is healthy now besides the jaundice and losing a pound but our pediatrician didn't seem worried about it so I'm just not sure. We took him to Starbucks today to work on our insurance papers and he did so great but I just want to make sure I'm not exposing him to anything on accident

We took ours to dr and restaurants in December and she was born at the end of Nov. In April i wouldn't worry if baby is full term and you are breastfeeding and no health issues.

My second was 2 wks early with jaundice as well. Besides all the appointments and light therapy, pretty sure we were out doing our thing within a week of birth. Otherwise I'd go stir crazy.

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

need suggestions.... So at work we have a drink thief. Any time we put a drink in the fridge it disappears. I swear I know who it is. So far he's taken drinks from everyone that works in the office, we even put a sign to not take anything you didn't pay for and wrote our names on the drinks. The person I think is taking them works out of the office so we never get to see who is drinking them.

At What Age Should a Child Make Their Own Breakfast?

Make your own breakfast! At what age do you think a child should be making their own breakfast? I have a 10 year old and I think he is perfectly capable of making himself breakfast. It doesn't take rocket science to put some waffles into the toaster, or microwave some pancakes. My husband insists that he needs to have breakfast made for him because if we left it up to him he wouldn't eat enough and it would take him forever.

Ok so not using actual numbers.. But everyone knows I'm over weight since having my girls. It's no secret. BUT i was talking with my hubby last night and idk how we got to this but he said something like (not using actual numbers) no one should weigh 800lbs, they should take care of themselves. And i said so what if someone weighs 800lbs? He said no one should weigh that, they should be healthier. I said well i almost weigh 800! I'm in the 790s. And I'm healthy. I may be overweight but i don't have any diseases, no high cholesterol, no high blood pressure, i don't have a bad heart, lungs, or anything else. So I'm healthy I'm just over weight. So then we argued about him having an issue with my weight.. Am i wrong in this? Because it really hurt my feelings.. I've tried sooo many different things to lose weight but having hypothyroidism makes you gain/hard to lose. And my medications for depression and anxiety cause you to gain also.. So it's very hard to lose weight.. But i didn't even know he had an issue with my weight until last night..
