YES! I had no idea that milk was an issue for iron absorption. I figured that would be one of those things they tell you Haha. I drink milk constantly so no wonder.
I agree with pp food advice.
If you drink milk before or after iron your body won't absorb it properly pretty stupid drs never tell you that.
Any kind of vitamin c rich foods help you absorb iron.
There is so many things you can do to add iron to your food but if you drink your supplement with orange juice that may just be enough with a little diet tweak
They didn't give me any numbers ? but they said that I was "slightly" anemic. Still put me on iron supplements and said to eat more red meat. I just love chicken SO MUCH hah!
Same here as well. I started taking 1 and a half of my prenatal pills and upping my red meat intake. I usually go for chicken also so it's been hard for me. Although I did make a salad the other day with romaine lettuce, spinach, broccoli, peas, peppers, and some blue cheese crumbles and I added a well done burger on top and it was amazing!! Lol.
Me !!
I've upped my red meat Intake - I used to always choose chicken. I've also added extra dark leafy greens to my smoothie like kale instead of just spinach. Also - dark chocolate has iron so I've added some to my oatmeal and have been eating some with peanut butter. Pistachios are high in iron and apparently if you drink orange juice your body absorbs more iron from the foods you are eating.
I found out I had low hemoglobin as well and I've already been on an iron supplement for anemia. I've had anemia with one of my other pregnancies, but never in the third trimester.
