WISH ME LUCK!!! ****UPDATE****
Ok so I don't post alot or even comment a bunch. But today I need some encouragement.
Y'all. I just got an email from them, to call as soon as possible. At first I thought I was in trouble because I kinda sorta had a verbal exchange with one of the security guards today ?? but that's a story for another day lol.
I GOT THE JOB!!!! She said they are working on an offer for me and my supervisor will get with me tomorrow to discuss it!
I am literally in tears right now, I am so excited. The bad stuff has still been piling up since I made this post, but I finally have something to be excited about!!
Thank you all so much for the great advice!!
I believe the interview went pretty well. I was more prepared than I have been for any other one I've had before!
I did thank them for inviting me in for the interview right off the bat. It was with 2 people, one being my immediate supervisor so that helped calm my nerves a bit.
I was able to respond to all of their questions in a pretty timely manner. They were all situational type questions and since I was able to prepare for the format they use, I had good responses ready for them. One of my responses regarding lean manufacturing and continuous improvement seemed to really impress them both!
Oh, and I did have questions for them as well! I basically asked about learning different skills on the job, and opportunities for advancement. I also asked them what was it about the company that they liked best, and what has kept them there. They both had great answers to those questions.
All in all, I feel fairly confident. I do know there are 2 positions open and they did 6 interviews. I should know within a week! I will definitely let you guys know!!
Yes, and have questions at the end! Make it something that shows real interest in your long term at the company. For instance, "during my time here I've heard we will be working on X project, how would I be involved with that?" Or anything that shows you are thinking of this as a career and not just a job. Just make sure to ask at least a question or two to show real interest.
So many people forget to shake hands and introduce themselves, but that's the first impression and you're off to a bad start if you don't do something so simple. Even if you know the people, shake hands, say thanks again for this interview... Maintain eye contact and if there's more than one interviewer, be sure to look at each panelist while you answer each question, even if only one is asking a question at that time, they're all taking notes. If you hear a question it's ok to pause, think, even repeat the question to confirm it and give yourself time to think. It's better to have a little bit longer pause then be able to make a coherent statement than rush to answer and it just be word salad.
Good luck!
Just relax and if it would help you any there's no harm in telling them something like "I'm sorry if I seem really nervous, I really enjoy working here so this interview is very important to me."
Sometimes saying that your nervous out loud can actually help you calm yourself down.
Congrats girl!!! ??? That's great news!!!
