About $9k left in husband's school loans and $30k for our new vehicle. Other than mortgage and student loans, the vehicle is the first time we've ever had debt! We pay our credit cards off every month and our last car we paid cash. It's scary ?
What my Grandma told me after my Grandfather passed - you'll be in some kind of debt the rest of your life. That's ok. Don't let it stop you from enjoying your life or from doing things that you want to do. She was referring to my credit card debt. 'You'll always have that. You'll pay it off, and then have it again. Make payments- as large as you can, but don't worry about getting to 0 and staying there. You will never stay there. Things come up.'
I used to really stress about my bills and debt, but her advice has really stuck with me. Thanks grammie!
But seriously, the debt. Myself and my husband's school loans, his car loan, some medical, and our credit card.
We have one credit card through our bank. Will not get any others- too dangerous for a the shoppaholic inside me!
Our goal is to be debt free (besides mortgage) by 30. We just turned 27. I always stress about our debt but see that some people have it a lot worse.
We have:
His car payment-12 grand left (2 years left on loan)
His student loan-6 grand
My student loan- 4 grand
Credit cards- 4 grand
We've been working really hard to get the credit card debt paid down first. Really regret ever getting them! It is tough though when our daycare payment is more than our mortgage.
I go to a Community College, $6000 for fasfa a year. $3000 a semester. My classes are like $1600. So whatever is left, i get back. I just can't fathom like 80k ?
We have about 23000 dollars in debt. We have one vehicle payment, one credit card and we have a loan that we owe about 1,000 on. This is WAY better than 2 years ago when we had over 75000 in debt. So by august of next year we will be debt free!
I have a car but I get a car allowance from work so that pays that- ( I also think our car loans work differently in the uk)
We use credit cards for everything then pay off in full each month as we get points for using them and then we convert the points to holiday vouchers ?
@yourfave I only got a $6000 grant from the state per year. My tuition after that was $52k and I've only paid off like $7k so far. They are federal loans though, not private.
How does everyone have so much school loan debt? Did you apply for fasfa? I'm thankful i haven't had to pay anything out of pocket. But shee, 80,000 is a lot!
60,000 for a truck is outrageous, i could buy like 3 brand new vehicles here.
Biggest chunk of our debt is student loans ? other than that we we maybe owe 8,000 outside of our mortgage. As our pay increases we’ll try to get it all paid off as fast as we can. I’m a dave Ramsey fan and would love to be debt free!
30k between both my cars, ring, and medical. 25 of it is just my cars. My car got totalled so 15k for my Jeep and dhs took a shat 10k for his. We have never owned newer cars and always cheap ones we payed up front for. Got tired of the "is it going to break down game". I hate having payments but together monthly we pay $388 for both. Use to 530 together till we refinanced the jeep. The $390 payments where killing us. Other then that we really don't have anything else.
I have about $35,000 in student loans, both cars paid off and no credit card debt! No clue when my student loans will be paid off. I hate having them especially because I'm a SAHM.
I'll be paying student loans til I die. I have about $45k left. I have a MasterCard with about $500 balance and an ULTA card with like $100 balance. I have other store cards like khols and Macy's but I haven't used them recently. Thankfully my car is paid off and my name will be off this mortgage soon.
60k on a truck isn’t that outrageous. My SO purchased a brand new truck for 60k 2 years ago as it made more sense in the long run financial for us. He’s a tradie so he can claim it’s depreciation on tax each ear for 5 years.
1,000 on my credit card since I pay everything with it, it SO makes payments on it every month since I'm not working at the moment, he has a few credit cards that he owes 1,000 on all together and then he owes 20,000 on my car, he's awesome and works really hard to have us living a good life.
2 car loans combined mayne around $50,000 and a personal loan of $7,500..might be done with the personal loan by the end of this year and the car loans are about 5yrs
Just my truck is 60000, thats without the house the credit card my personal loan and thats just me my hubby has his own personal loans and such ( but i dont call that debt i call that investment cause we need decent vehicule we need our house ect)
Apart from Mortgage I have a $12k HECS debt. hecs is similar to student loans. When you earn over a certain threshold you start paying it back based on a % of your wage. My debt will be paid when I lodge my tax return
We've paid off our car, and a credit card, and both of our student loans. We have a relatively small balance on a credit card we're using. You said our mortgage doesn't count, so I guess that's it for debt. Thank God we don't have to pay for medical care ? otherwise, we'd all be living in a van down by the river.

We have two mortgages but one house is a rental so that actually provides a little income because we rent it for more than the mortgage.
Thank goodness for scholarships because both hubby and I have degrees and no student loan debt.
All we have is my car which will be paid off this year, so maybe a few thousand, but we have enough in savings to pay it off now if we wanted to.

Hoping to have credit cards paid off in 2 years or less. Cars I'm not worried about, will pay them off as they are due.

Not much at all. I’m my name it’s only my car that’s about 10 grand. No school loans or credit cards debt
deleted-user·
Why are you lost on a $60,000 truck? That's a pretty normal price.
We have no debt, thank the lord. In 2 weeks I'll be done with school and be paying off school loans but it's only like 18k or so.
