EPO and raspberry leaf tea
So I'm 30 weeks (can't believe it) and I asked my dr. He said I could start Evening Primrose oil (epo) and raspberry leaf tea. I've got 1000mg tabs. Seems like everyone online starts things later on.
@ray, my dr told me that there is no scientific period that it actually works but that it won't hurt me. They're not to expensive at Walmart.
I haven't read anything about it being bad for vbac but I'll definitely look into it!
Are you attempting VBAC? I attempted VBAC with my second (born in January) and I was going to start on EPO but a midwife at the practice suggested I avoid it because it's thought that EPO will not only soften your cervix but your uterine scars as well, which could increase your risk of a rupture. It may be something worth researching some more.
As far as RLT I started drinking that at 34 weeks, starting small with 1 cup a day and worked my way up to 3-4.
I didn't take epo, but I did drink RRLT last preg, I junk I started around 35 weeks, I started with one cup a day and then went to 2 cups a day, I had a super fast labor, I went to 9cm only after 1 hour after my 1st contraction, and with labor and pushing it was a total of 6hours, so I would say RRLT definitely have me a speedy delivery
I'm just worried I'm starting to early
I know cervidil (or cytotec?)can't be used as it causes the risk for abruption to go up. Would EPO do the same thing? I used it for my first pregnancy and was dilated to a 5 when I went in for my induction (started with 1 orally at 34 weeks and then did 2 orally and 1 vaginally starting at 36). Besides the cervidil, pitocin will make the contractions harder which will also put strain on your incision site.
Omg your 30wks already? ?? times flies!! Im following bc ive never tried it either.. then again my first came 2wks early and ended up having her the same day i got admitted not to mention i healed pretty quickly too!
Ill be 38wks this Tuesday.. and i wanna try the raspberry tea thing
I started epo at 36 weeks 500mg vaginally & 500 mg orally at night and in the am 500 mg
Also drank RLT 2 tea bags in one cup 2-3X a day honestly I don't think it did anything considering I was 2 weeks over due ? with my 2 other pregnancies I didn't do either and gave birth st 36 & 38 weeks
I've never tried it before. The drs are making sure I know 100% they absolutely will not induce me for a vbac. I either go naturally or they'll c-section. I didn't dilate with my son until 41 weeks so trying just about anything to help my body along. I'd love to go at 39-40 weeks so we avoid any type of c-section talk one we hit 41
I didn't use the oil but I started drinking the tea around 18 or 20 weeks. My midwife said you have to drink it regularly for it to do any good. Idk if it helped any but that labor was much faster and easier than my first.
Eta: she told me start drinking it once I hit the second trimester I just kept forgetting to buy it.
I started epo at 36 weeks. Started orally once a day. Then next week started vaginally once at night. I delivered at 38 weeks and 2 days. I can't remember when I started raspberry leaf tea. But was later than 30 weeks.
I forgot to my water broke and I was 6cm within 4 hours with contractions starting 2 hours after my water broke. I had an 11 hour labor only because the epidural slowed me way down. If I didn't get the epidural I'm sure I would have had her within the next hour.

Getting started on this raspberry leaf tea! I hope it tastes as nice as it smells!!!
Raspberry leaf tea
Where the heck can I buy Raspberry Leaf Tea? I can't find it anywhere!
What was your experience with raspberry leaf tea?
Anyone drink the red raspberry leaf tea?
Has anyone tried Raspberry leaf tea and did it work for jump starting labor?
I've been drinking the tea since last week I'm the same as you ? 29.6 today. I plan on epo the 36/37 weeks but now I'm scared b.c of the vbac thing ?? ill have to ask my midwife at my next appt.
