This is so true! It happens all the time but recently I went to my best friends going away party, my husband was invited but decided to hang with our kids so we didn't have to find a sitter. Everyone at the party was like "omg he's watching the kids, how awesome"....? like no, he's not "watching" the kids, he's home with his children..you know like parenting. So annoying! I mean I was thankful he was with them so I could go say bye to my friend but it's nothing that serious that it deserves special praise, he's their FATHER

I'm always saying this. I use a made up example of like if a dad was pushing a kid in a stroller and that kid was eating French fries. Everyone and their dog would be like ohhh wow what a great dad out and about with his kid. If it was a mom a lot of people would think she was awful because her kid had fries.

So true! Many people are so "impressed" that my so is with our son while I work.. umm I'm not going to pay a sitter if he can watch lo. ?

lol it's like how when people get amazed when my husband changes a diaper. I change them all freaking day long and nobody gives a s*** but he changes one when we are out doing something and people think he's a hero lol

I work overnight on weekends and my patients always ask who keeps my kids. They are always amazed when I say, their father, my husband! He does many things that make him amazing but caring for his own kids isn't one of them. Then I get told how it's really too bad that I don't get my kids out to socialize very often with other kids. We are a one car family and that one car barely works. To have the car during the day, I'd have to wake the kids up at 3am and then I'd get to hear about how unhealthy that sleep pattern is.

This drives me nuts. People always ask where the kids are when they arent with me (doesnt happen often, rarely really ?) and when I say "with their dad" I always get something along the lines of "ohh wow thats so awesome that you can do that/ that he does that/ etc etc" ummm yeah...he's their dad ? I spent 10 years of my life at home with them while he worked, and nobody gave a shat. And now that Im at school, and he's still working, its like...he is so amazing for picking them up every so often. Like..helloooo ?

Never really thought about it like this. Although my mom always tells us that we put our dad up on a pedestal and praise him when. He does the littlest things expected of him ? I can now see why she gets so frustrated
