Honestly, didn't think like this until now

Комментарии

The stats are just reported cases men and boy under report even more than women.

Everyone is so stinking worried about being attacked by a stranger when reality shows the person you trust is going to be the scary rapist you don't fear until it's too late.

Most sexual assaults are among people known to each other

Maybe the punishment for attacking someone in a bathroom should be like a mandatory 10 years in prison no parole and you register as a sex offender for life. Maybe start punishing the people doing the actual crime and not innocent people just having to relieve themselves.

I used to be a republican but not anymore. How many of them stuck up for the pervert who molested and raped teenage boys.

I wouldn't say people are not worried about it, the thought has crossed my mind multiple times. However if you look up statistics, 91% of sexual assaults are committed on women/girls, 9% are on men/boys. And I think that number is why we as a society automatically shout for our daughters safety.

My son will go in the women's restroom with me for quite some time either way though.

My son's or daughter would never be allowed in a public restroom alone until they're old enough to call/get help. That's why this is such a big deal.Does everyone really let their small children go into public restrooms alone?

Yep I agree with this!

I saw a post about a guy that now waits outside the door while his young daughter uses the bathroom.

Um Hello guy!! You've should have done that already.

I use the family bathroom every chance I get because it's more convenient since I have a little boy.

I would never send him in alone.

Honestly how often are people using public restrooms on a daily basis. I am out and about a lot and maybe only spend 10 ish minutes a month in a public bathroom.

Its unfortunate but people will never be 100% safe in a public bathroom. No matter what laws are in effect. At least now with all this going on people will be more aware.

The chance of getting attacked in public is low. If someone wants to hide in the bathroom and try to peak they will do it no matter the law....ya know since criminal's love to obey the law and all. I think there are so many more important safety issues to address the this.

But I agree you should always accompany your small child to the bathroom and stand out side the bathroom when your grown child is in there too.

I guess, in general, I think the likelihood of being attacked in a restroom is a) extremely low, and b) not affected by transgender policies at all. If someone wants to attack someone, they are going to do it regardless of what the little sign on the door says.

I hope in my lifetime we'll see gender-less restrooms. I don't give a lick what parts you have. I just want somewhere to pee.

Not only young boys are at risk. There are cases of teenage boys being raped. Not all boys can fight someone off, there are boys scrawnier than myself. If we're going to worry about peoples daughters then we should worry about our sons as well.

Нравится Ответить

@lil so are you implying that their is no possible way that someone could take advantage? Because if a man is transgendered that would mean that he would be attracted to men and no I wouldn't worry about a true down to earth transgender. But do I worry that someone could pretend to be transgendered to maybe attack me or my child. Hell yes I am!

Boom...thank you for posting this! I have been trying to make this point since this has become an issue.. True very true!!

Good point and I do support the new policy but usually pedophiles have a "type" and they are either boys or girls usually not both. They are usually young enough boys that still go with their mom to the restroom. I don't think it's any problems still though because we use stalls and you should never leave a child unattended in the restroom anyways. I think we should also start our children young to learn some self defense. I used to resent my dad for putting me in kickboxing but now looking back at it I'm glad he did

It would be a very, very, very long time before I let my son go to the bathroom by himself even before this bathroom issue popped up.

I dont send my kids to the bathroom alone.....so target here I come!

Everyone can keep boycotting. More stuff for me ? lol

I want to know why people are sending their young children to the bathroom alone for this to be an issue. I see parents all the time let their young kids walk alone through the store or to the bathroom. Anything could happen anywhere it's a parents job to supervise their children.

Honestly if north Carolina and target never mentioned anything about this. No one would be worried about transgender people. I mean 98% of the time you can't tell whose trans whose not unless you look under their underwear. The other 3% is trying to figure out if they are or not because we've all seen women who are born with masculine features or dresses and looks like one but not a lot of people would go up to her and ask her what she is just think it in their head. So everyone should move past this. When your kids are young go in the restroom with them. When they're teenagers out with their friends teach them the buddy system. Not a lot of girls go to the restroom by themselves either way without their girl tagging along. Come to think of it, the whole reason us girls did this was because of being potentially attacked.

I guess I'm not sure who the meme is directed at. I don't know any parent that isn't concerned about the safety of their male or female child in a public bathroom.

I have a daughter, but I'm sure if I had a son he wouldn't be using the restroom by himself for a while.

The thing is though, a sign on the bathroom door isn't going to stop assault. If a man wanted to put on a dress and rape a woman in the bathroom he already would. The problem is, people are worrying about the wrong people. You probably can't even tell when *most* trasngendered people use the "wrong" restroom. You have probably peed right next to a trans woman and didn't even know.

I truly don't think it's about bathrooms. It's about being close minded and resisting change.

"You" as in a general sense, not calling anybody out.

Edit: I also think people don't think of boys because society has a warped view that only women are victims. We have done such a good job at silencing men when it comes to struggles like this, that many people overlook it.

I would worry about my son in a bathroom alone.... Do most women not?

I still do not want to share a bathroom with a man, even if he is transgender. But NOT because I'm necessarily, only, worried about my safety.

Нравится Ответить

@grace, IMO it's implied by people who are worried that someone with a penis might go in the Women's room. They are worried for women and girl's "safety". What reason is there to worry??

Нравится Ответить

My mom tried telling me about this two days ago. This wouldn't bother her because her son is 21 now ?

@lil

What you said is NULL AND VOID.

We aren't talking about all men? I don't think I saw "all men are rapist" anywhere

We are talking about straight up pedophiles. I'm sure everyone here knows that all men aren't pedophiles... ???

Нравится Ответить

I find it offensive and laughable that people assume all men are rapists or can't control themselves around women.

?

Are there some? Sure, but statistically very few.

I have though about.

I took a bathroom safety course through my local pd. Aimed at women, boys, and girls. In 2010. Because they have had to think about it.

It was very informative to my rights in either a male or female bathroom. Which ones are more dangerous. Etc

...DH wants to stop going to Target because of it. Although I love Target.

I bet you if I sent him this he'd say, "you can't win this argument I have no sons"

Нравится Ответить

Yesss :(

I brought this argument up with this guy who was preaching about how according to him, "LGBTQ rights shouldn't supercede our girl's safety."

There's so much more to this :(
