I haven't gone in over a year and quite frankly now I'm just afraid to go because of the scolding im going to get ?

I waited until my maternity leave and decided to suck it up and go. It's been honestly about 14 years since I'd had a cleaning or exam. About 10 years ago I broke my front tooth and had to get an emergency root canal and crown...but that's it. So, I went (I have insurance now) because my crown shifted over the last year and kinda looked like a buck tooth and I wanted to it shaped. Well, I got that and a cleaning. No cavities in 14 years BUT beginning stages of periodontal disease and I need a 3 hour deep root cleaning that'll cost me $420 out of pocket plus I was referred to an endodontist for an infection in my root (which caused the shift) that I've had for over a year. I'm putting that off though...the consultation alone was $85 (with insurance). Dental worm is expensive and seems like a slippery slope! I'll definitely be keeping up in my appointments from now on!

Crazy I did the same recently I hadn't been to the dentist (other then emergency wisdom tooth extraction) in 6 years but thankfully in total I spent $600 for cleaning and 3 fillings

My quote was somewhere around $90,000!!!! I ended up in Mexico for just under $17,000 and have a mouth full of new teeth!

Well the sucky thing is my husband needs 1,500 in work too!!

After 4 years, you're lucky your bill is just $200 lol my had an uncle avoid the dentist and spent $40k getting himself back into working order.

I actually love the dentist now. I hate that feeling of build up behind my lower teeth and in between.

OP you could also get in the routine of flossing. I had bad swollen gums before that they told me to get a deep clean. I kept up with flossing daily and gums are healthier. No deep cleaning for me now.

Jesus christ! I go every 6-7mnths. Periodontal disease is no joke. I have had many cavities in the past due to lack of care but for the last 5 years I have been on too. Even had braces in.

Because of this post I made an appointment! I always forget, things get in the way etc. Read this post the other day and rang straight away to make an appointment. No excuses now!

That's me too ? I've never even gotten my wisdom teeth out....and I've got what was supposed to be a temporary bridge still in....after 7 years. Oops.

I let my teeth go to s*** , and I go to the dentist to orrow for the start of some big work. Deep cleaning and then fillings. Wisdom extraction, all 4 next. Then braces for 18 months. Wahhhh. Do you know in California an out of pocket, no insurance at all root canal is 2000 dollars!!! I was like wtf, I feel bad for people that can't get work done because it's freaking ridiculous.

I hate the dentist but my husband found me a great one and she is awesome, I never feel anything when she does work. I have severe anxiety when it comes to the dentist!! I have already had 3 teeth extracted, 2 fillings, and I still have to get 1 more extracted and more fillings and a root camel;(

That's insane! Bills from the dentist are crazy these days. The dentist gives me so much anxiety, more than labor and delivery did! I don't like anyone coming near my mouth with sharp objects. I had to get a root canal about two years ago and that was rough, I just bring in my iPod and listen to music and pray it ends soon. I hope it goes well for you both!

I'm in the same boat. Never had a cavity in my life. Well technically I have but that tooth came in bad and I had to get it replaced with a fake one at 13. When it finally pushed through it was black and falling apart. Gross I know. Along with still having one of my baby eye teeth. The damn thing never fell out. But after this pregnancy my back teeth can't handle any cold, hot or sweets. Along with having to get 4 wisdom teeth taken out this month. Its going to be so expensive. I should have gone sooner. I just hate the dentist and the $$$ they think that falls from my ass. ??

I will admit I just have been to lazy to go, but after almost 10 years I started last month. So far I have had many cavaties filled. Now I need one more on a back molar my dentist doesn't know if she can save or not yet. After that I get 2 more filled and out comes my wisdom teeth. I will say since going last month my teeth are looking better than ever!
