boys will be boys...
(Not a fan of that phrase) but.... at what point is there a time and a place? 3 little boys, about 4, are running around the play yard at the mall yelling kill kill kill and when they catch each other they pretend to stab each other to death...

I have a 5 year old daughter and she likes the super heros and all but shes complete girl her feelings get hurt very easy now im pregnant with a boy due dec i really am soooo nervous i guess you could say lol i have friends who have boys and family members its a whole different world

Not appropriate IMO.
deleted-user·
Mine either.. My kid will definitely not be playing like that.. Much less even know about stabbing.

I've seen worse at the mall.

Smh so inappropriate

My friend had a daughter who was about 5 at the time. We (dh and I) were babysitting her for a few minutes. She would give dh a toy and then "kidnap" it and send it in the mail to him. She then whispered in his ear saying "steal and kill is my favorite game"
Obviously we told her we don't play those kinds of games, that isn't nice, and we redirected her attention but it was creepy as hell! How does a kid that young even know that kind of stuff?? When we told her mother she just laughed and wasn't even worried about it!

Yeah, inappropriate for sure.
I have 3 little guys and they play super heroes and run around like crazies if I let them. Only a couple times has my oldest said something like "I got killed" as he collapsed (no actions like stabbing, though). I don't really know where he got that as we don't watch anything like that with him - I can only assume his little school buddies have influenced him.

My sons love to be super heroes and what not. As a result, they fight imaginary bad guys. They are not allowed to "fight" each other or real people and they cannot be villains. I wouldn't allow them to pretend to kill people.

How does a 4 year old even know what stabbing and killing someone is?! Sounds like they have some excellent role models in their lives... (Insert sarcasm)
deleted-user·
I have a five year old and yes that's all he every wants to talk about death and killing. I also have a 13 year old and they play fight. But I always tell him not to talk that way in front of ladies and that people don't like to talk about death or dead things. But if he was playing with other boys I wouldn't be so hard. I would say tone it down. If we were in public.

LOL for real @PP
..."My kid plays zombie and dragon slayer games"
Followed by, "He has more knowledge of the REAL world..."
?
deleted-user·
Zombies and dragon slayers are part of the real world? Say what?
deleted-user·
My kids play like that...too each their own I guess! Lol
Usually only around the house though, my DD 3.5 is obsessed with anything of superhero's, she's always either saving lives or killing them.
She even uses her nerf gun sets to shoot at things, and says kill etc...
I think its a time and place type thing of play! Lol
deleted-user·
Lmao @pp

My boys pretend to launch each other into space. They don't really know what kill or dead is though.

Мама сына (1 год)
@lala I wouldn't be surprised

My two step sons are allowed to do that kind of stuff at their moms- they also have free reign of YouTube and will proudly boast that they have seen the scariest things out of all of their friends ? the more time they spend here the better they get but it's so hard not to strangle their mother when I hear things like that come out of their mouth.

I don't think it's a big deal. I played cowboy with my brother when we were that age. we had toy guns and would shot each other. We knew what dead and kill meant. We weren't crazy kids lol
deleted-user·
Not my boys. No guns..Not at any age unless serving the country or wearing a badge. Yep. I'm pretty much "that" mom.
deleted-user·
I think if you're going to let your kids play with toy guns etc it's your choice, but it should always be enforced never to point any weapon, real or toy, and anyone.
deleted-user·
Our kids know what shooting, killing, dead etc is. But being ranching kids, they have been around it a lot. The oldest especially. He has been with my husband when he has had to shoot things like a dying heifer, a coyote after the chickens, etc. So he knows what guns are for. He knows that my husband always has a gun on him when he is out in the land. And he even has a BB gun of his own. That being said, our kids play shoot animals all the time. They go on bear hunts and safaris and all sorts of things. And they shoot and kill it. They've never done it with shooting each other or anything like that but not a huge deal at our house. They are some of the kindest most compassionate kids I know. We don't allow any form of violent TV, they don't play video games or anything like that so actual violence isn't an issue for them at this point.

It's definitely innapropriate for the mall!
