no one told me..

That when you bf, stopping wouldn't be your choice. I desperately want to be done bf my 15 mo. I'm ready, it's time... for me, him... not so much. He screams bloody murder at night until I feed him. He's 15mo and still gets up twice a night. I send my husband in to sooth him but nope! I hate it! I'm exhausted. I feel so lost.

I was like that with my first, and I'm sure I'll be like that this time too. I slowly got him off, instead of all at once.

For a few days I only breastfed him when he first woke up, and to put him to sleep. Then the next few days I only breastfed him at night. And I always made sure to feed him dinner right before bed, so he wouldn't be hungry.

Sounds like my daughter! Unfortunately I don't have any advice but I ended up breastfeeding until she was 2 1/2 once or twice a day.

Put some aloe Vera on your nipple.

That's what they do in the island.

It works most time if they are still young. My dd took me to the bathroom to wash it off. She was 2.

I feel your pain being exhausted all the time. I night weaned my son around the 15-16 m mark. I just did it slowly...cut out the 1st night feed (12-1am feed), offered water in a sippy, but would do the 4am feed, then cut out 4am feed. Took about a month, but then he started sleeping 12hrs! Woohoo! It felt great and then I started to enjoy bf again. He's a little over 2.5 yrs and still loves his booboo!

We night weaned DS1 about 15months. The only way it worked for us was DH getting up with him at night and giving him water.

I need to remember that aloe tip for the future!! My sister had the same problem and ended up bf until 2.5, I really don't want to do that...

You and I were in the same boat. I am now 2 weeks without nursing.

I traded one hassle for another. Before I was nursing non stop at night. Now I'm getting up every two-three hours having to rock him to sleep taking anywhere from 15 min-2hours. I am more tired now than I was breastfeeding. He traded a nipple to soothe, to me rocking.

I regret weaning. But I felt so upset nursing.

How I weaned was by telling him they were gone and showing him my covered nipple. Then I incorporated a bedtime routine. He drinks two sippy cups a night. :/

I am currently weaning my 19 month old. I started with eliminating the day feedings then the ones at night. I have to wear tops that she can't pull my shirt down and I put salt my nips the first few nights before that got really messy but she got the point fast. Then I started using lemon juice which works too. Now she just nurses in the morning around 7. It took a month to get here.

Put american coffee on your nipples and when baby goes to breastfeed, they'll get disgusted.

Is the American coffee thing a joke?
