offended?

Would you be offended if one day your child told you they hated their name and was legally changing it?

Комментарии

I'd let them know they could change their name to whatever they wanted, but I'd still call them by their birth name. So suck it kid. Lol! ?

Of course I would like him to like the name we chose for him. It really doesn't bother me. It's not a personal slight against me. Hopefully he will choose a name I like if he really decides to change it.

I'd be extremely hurt because she's named after my mom

@yaya is there a part of you that hopes he eventually decides he likes caden?

Нравится Ответить

No, not really.my husband changed his middle and last name when we got married so it's not that big of a deal to me.it'd be kinda weird though

Нравится Ответить

No. I hate my middle name, almost changed it when I got married but didn't want to make my mom sad. I gave my kids easy names.

Нравится Ответить

I would try to change her mind. I love her name and there aren't too many people with that name and her middle name is the same as my moms

Нравится Ответить

Still Caden, but he thinks he likes Isaac or Elijah. I told him to take his time and to pick a good name. It's harder than he thought it would be!

Нравится Ответить

Hmm..that's a good question OP. We are naming our lo after his daddy (first name anyway) so I think my DH would be more hurt than I. My name isn't very unique or off the wall but to this day I don't hear it that often. It's Valerie Dawn. I like the meaning behind it as Valerie comes from valor (brave, or spiritual strength) so it translates to "brave first light".

Нравится Ответить

I'd be sad and hurt because I think his name is beautiful and suits him.. however I'd put on my big girl panties and deal with it. Lol

I hated my name for a LONG time, I still don't like it all that much tbh. It's literally the easiest fcking name but nobody pronounces it correctly. Lol I wanted to change my first and last name I even went down and got the forms but when I conceived none of that mattered.

Нравится Ответить

It would hurt my feelings.

Нравится Ответить

Kind of irrelevant, but I know a guy who legally changed his name to Captain Awesome.

@yaya what do you call him now?

Нравится Ответить

I hate my name. It's plain and boring and usually characters on TV and movies with my name are b**** es or sluts. Haha. My name is amber btw.

Нравится Ответить

I still sometimes question myself on whether or not I like my sons name (Ryder). It doesn't help that his name (and mine) are ALWAYS listed on the "What names do you hate" lists people make on here. It's still fairly newish, so I don't know if it will be a good adult name until I start seeing adults with it haha. I wouldn't be offended, but I think I would be hurt only because it confirmed my fears that I didn't pick a good enough name. His middle name is Michael (my dad's name) and I always thought if Ryder didn't suit him as an adult then Michael will, so if he just switched them and made it Michael Ryder then id be okay with it.

I used to hate my name growing up (Ryan). I never got teased, but I felt like such an outcast. I love it now though. People remember it easily and I get a lot of compliments. I work in a restaurant where I wear a name tag and after people confirm it is in fact my name (no, I didn't grab someone else's haha) they usually tell me how much they love it (or that their brother/uncle/nephew/grandson has the same name haha).

Нравится Ответить

No. I hated my name when I was younger and wanted it changed. I got over it lol. I still have my plain name.

Нравится Ответить

I'm curious what everyone's names is who doesn't like theirs!

Нравится Ответить

No I am that kid.

I hate having to correct people and usually several times during the same conversation

Нравится Ответить

I would be hurt if DDtold me she didn't like her name. Her name is "old", it's Katherine Elizabeth, her first name is my Granny's middle name, my Granny is my absolute best friend and means the world to me and Elizabeth is my middle name, my moms, my grandmas middle name and my great grandmas first name :) I wouldn't be mad though because she has the right to chose wether or not she likes it but it would secretly upset me lol.

Нравится Ответить

I don't like my name. I don't feel like it sounds professional as an adult. But that being said, I've had it my whole life and I wouldn't know what to change it to... I think it would be a really big adjustment not just for me but for everyone who knows me. I've been answering to it and writing it for so long. I don't think I'll ever change it for that reason

Нравится Ответить

I would be hurt probably. It took me a while to come up with the perfect name for my son that my husband agreed to. I think his name is very fitting tho. His name is Nathaniel which means gift of God or given of God. I'm not religious but he was my rainbow baby.

Нравится Ответить

I surprisingly wasn't hurt when he told me. We love the name Caden, but he's the one that has to live with it. So I'd rather he have a name that he loves.

Нравится Ответить

He'll probably grow to like it by the time he is of age to have it changed.

Нравится Ответить

Yaya that's so funny your son says that! When I was little I always cried that I had a grown up name and I was just a kid. ?

I think I'm still growing into it.

Нравится Ответить

I'd be a little hurt. I'm sure s.o would to since were naming him after him. S.o is Joseph Michael and were naming our son Michael Joseph.

I gave my mom tons of crap for my name cause it's so popular. But I wouldn't change it & she knows it just me picking on her.

Нравится Ответить

I've hated my middle name since I was 13 (now 24) and plan on changing it when I get married so I don't have to change everything twice

Нравится Ответить

Oh! Sorry! It's Caden. It's common now, but it was pretty new 7 years ago.

Нравится Ответить

When I got married I legally changed my middle name to my maiden name. My mom was kind of upset, but I hated my middle name and don't miss it now.

Нравится Ответить

@yaya. What's his name?

Нравится Ответить

My 7 year old doesn't like his name. He says there are no grown ups with his name so it's a kids name. Which is true. It's a newer name. As soon as he's old enough to pick a name he wants for life I'll take him to change it. In the meantime, I told him we'd call him whatever he wants.

Нравится Ответить

I think I said the same thing to my mom .

Нравится Ответить

No I wouldn't care. Their life.

Нравится Ответить

I would be confused! Elijah is a great name, I wouldn't understand why he would want to change it. I would be very against it. Just being honest!

Нравится Ответить

Nope.

Нравится Ответить

Not offended, but hurt. They would have to be over 18 and pay to have everything changed themselves but other than that, I'd get over it. I've always told my parents I don't like my name since I was little. But it meant a lot to them so I wouldn't change it.

Нравится Ответить

My cousin changed her name and it really hurt her Mom.

Нравится Ответить

Yes and no. I mean we put a lot of thought into it and everything. I think many children go through a phase where they don't like their name or they wish they had a different name. I personally would tell them that we would call them by the name they want but if they wanted to legally change it that they could when they turned 18.

My mother LOATHES her legal name, she goes by a nickname of her legal name. The only things with her real name on it are her birth certificate and passport, everything else is her nick name (the name she's always gone by).

Нравится Ответить

Offended, no. Hurt, yes. I've always told my mom I hate my name and wanted a name change. I was a teenager though so she wouldn't let me. I kept my name, but I still don't like it.

Нравится Ответить

No. I mean I'd be a little hurt if they would say it like that but thats their decision.
