offended?
Would you be offended if one day your child told you they hated their name and was legally changing it?
@yaya is there a part of you that hopes he eventually decides he likes caden?
Hmm..that's a good question OP. We are naming our lo after his daddy (first name anyway) so I think my DH would be more hurt than I. My name isn't very unique or off the wall but to this day I don't hear it that often. It's Valerie Dawn. I like the meaning behind it as Valerie comes from valor (brave, or spiritual strength) so it translates to "brave first light".
I'd be sad and hurt because I think his name is beautiful and suits him.. however I'd put on my big girl panties and deal with it. Lol
I hated my name for a LONG time, I still don't like it all that much tbh. It's literally the easiest fcking name but nobody pronounces it correctly. Lol I wanted to change my first and last name I even went down and got the forms but when I conceived none of that mattered.
I still sometimes question myself on whether or not I like my sons name (Ryder). It doesn't help that his name (and mine) are ALWAYS listed on the "What names do you hate" lists people make on here. It's still fairly newish, so I don't know if it will be a good adult name until I start seeing adults with it haha. I wouldn't be offended, but I think I would be hurt only because it confirmed my fears that I didn't pick a good enough name. His middle name is Michael (my dad's name) and I always thought if Ryder didn't suit him as an adult then Michael will, so if he just switched them and made it Michael Ryder then id be okay with it.
I used to hate my name growing up (Ryan). I never got teased, but I felt like such an outcast. I love it now though. People remember it easily and I get a lot of compliments. I work in a restaurant where I wear a name tag and after people confirm it is in fact my name (no, I didn't grab someone else's haha) they usually tell me how much they love it (or that their brother/uncle/nephew/grandson has the same name haha).
I would be hurt if DDtold me she didn't like her name. Her name is "old", it's Katherine Elizabeth, her first name is my Granny's middle name, my Granny is my absolute best friend and means the world to me and Elizabeth is my middle name, my moms, my grandmas middle name and my great grandmas first name :) I wouldn't be mad though because she has the right to chose wether or not she likes it but it would secretly upset me lol.
I don't like my name. I don't feel like it sounds professional as an adult. But that being said, I've had it my whole life and I wouldn't know what to change it to... I think it would be a really big adjustment not just for me but for everyone who knows me. I've been answering to it and writing it for so long. I don't think I'll ever change it for that reason
My 7 year old doesn't like his name. He says there are no grown ups with his name so it's a kids name. Which is true. It's a newer name. As soon as he's old enough to pick a name he wants for life I'll take him to change it. In the meantime, I told him we'd call him whatever he wants.
Yes and no. I mean we put a lot of thought into it and everything. I think many children go through a phase where they don't like their name or they wish they had a different name. I personally would tell them that we would call them by the name they want but if they wanted to legally change it that they could when they turned 18.
My mother LOATHES her legal name, she goes by a nickname of her legal name. The only things with her real name on it are her birth certificate and passport, everything else is her nick name (the name she's always gone by).
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...

I'd let them know they could change their name to whatever they wanted, but I'd still call them by their birth name. So suck it kid. Lol! ?
