Too uptight
Apparently my husband and I are too uptight because we weren't willing to allow by mil to give my 5 month old son a spoon full of icing off of a cake at his baptism. Really lady? ? He's not even on solids and he's not getting a spoon full of sugar!

Omg you're ridiculous...he's 5 months old for god sake he can have solids by now. Icing is an excellent first food too...sheesh.

Just icing? Should've given him the whole cake! Lol
I agree with you, they shouldn't have that type of sugar this little.

Lol^^

My son was on solids at 4 months so I don't think she was reducilous but after you told her no she should respect that.

I gave my cousin a sour straw once when he was 5 months old. Or 4. Idr. But I was like 12. So I had no clue lol. Needless to say my mom was pissed because she was babysitting.

People always think it's so cute to give a young baby a spoonful of something...yet they don't seem to want to help at 2am when baby is sick to his stomach due that spoonful!

My dad's the same way. He celebrated my sons first tooth at 3 months by buying him a giant cookie. Sorry dad, not happening.

My SO's best friend's fiance gave their baby a mashed up banana at 3 weeks old. I didn't say a word. She's already upset with me and my SO for calling her baby chunky in a cute way..so I definitely refrain from saying anything else that'll piss her off.
I'm glad you didn't let her give your baby icing. Some parents would just let it happen.

God i'm so glad my parents share my views on parenting (i guess cuz I got a lot from them?) And my mil isn't in the picture, cuz she lives out of town, but I'm not expecting any of this crud from her

I snapped at someone once when they tried to give my then 1year old pop lol. They were taken a back but I just told them there's no way I am allowing that.

Omgg, I.can't believe you're depriving your poor baby,
He's gonna grow up to hate you for not giving him frosting as his first food!!!
Jussst kidding,
People are crazy, let them hate you, that'd prolly make your poor baby sick!
deleted-user·
Exactly its just a spoon but at 2/3 am when baby is having stomach pain nobody is there to help. Icing has alooot sugar i would prob hesitate too!

It's your kid your rules. I hate how people get all up your business about what your kids eat. My dad threw a b**** fit b/c I wouldn't let him give my 9 month old Pepsi. All while my idiot cousin was giving I've cream to her 3 month old on the couch next to me. Ugh!

People are so rude.

Even a little on the finger wouldn't have been okay. He is ebf and she's heard us talking about us staying solids in 2 months. And hell she wasn't even going to ask

At OP, it's ur baby , do wat is right for u and ur family. I stood my ground with my family when it came to things like that, they tried real hard to push things on me to do with DD, but DH and me put a stop to it.

We do zero (for fun) sugar until at least 12 months and even then not really.
deleted-user·
Yeah the first sugar my little one will have won't be until his/her first birthday. I'm still pregnant but I know I want my child to have a better understanding of healthy food then I did growing up. And heaven help the person that tries to go behind my back on this.
