Boy banned from carrying bag- Target for Bullying

A North Carolina school has ordered a 9-year old boy to stop wearing his My Little Pony bag, as it makes him a target for bullies.

The school has become the biggest bully of them all. It's sad :(

I wouldn't have gone to the news as his mother though because when something is blown up like this he will never be able to forget it.

he'll be in high school still being made fun of for it even if he's grown out of liking it.

Even though it's OT most rapes are committed by people the victim knows' family, friend, or spouse.

See that's what's wrong with society. We think it's right to blame the victim. Idgf what she's wearing.

And we think it's okay to tell a little boy it's wrong to be who he is because others don't like it

I do think that they are handling it the wrong way, and the bullies should be dealt with properly. But I also would not send my son to school with a my little pony backpack either. Unfortunately, the world is full of bullies and hateful people and kids, and there is no way to stop it all from happening. So I can understand how they feel that by sending him to school with it, it is making him a target for being bullied. In a perfect world, things wouldn't be that way, but we do not live in a perfect world. They are trying to prevent the kid from the bullying and trying to protect him. They cannot control what the other kids do all the time. Imo it is best that he does not go to school with it. He can have a different one for school, and that one for home and other places.

Basically the school is saying that yeah, they'd probably pick on him too.

@kyla all rape isn't just random attacks from strangers. Rape also includes many other situations ie: a girl at a party dressed in clothes showing a lot of skin. Flirts with a boy and he has sex with her although she repeatedly said no or wasn't able to coherently answer because she's drunk.

This is terrible . I'd switch schools

In elementary school I remember still believing the only color girls should like was pink. Its not hard to see why little boys would pick on another little boy for having a "girl" lunch box. I wouldn't go to the news with it though. I would tell the school to their part and handle the bullying if it occurs. I will do my part and teach my child what to say to kids that have nothing to do, but worry about his lunch box.

I just read this on yahoo! such bs!! if that were my son, I would flip on the school and the boys parents. where are the bully's parents? i wonder what their views are!!

Obviously I think the bullies need to be disciplined. And if the kid wants a my little pony lunch bag, then be my guest. But, people fear things that are not 'normal'. If you want to be different, if you want to do something that will attract attention to yourself, whether negatively or positively, know that someone somewhere won't agree.

In fact my daughter loves cars and dinosaurs and action figures... and star wars.... and I dont care...they are just as fun as the girly stuff and vice versa let kids be kids for crying out loud.

Theres a documentary on netflix called bronies about these guys who love my little pony.... my daughter is obsessed because its actually a decent show lol.... who cares if hes a boy....i guarantee if it was a girl with a ninja turtles backpack or something no one would care.

It may attract attention, but that doesn't mean people should act on that attention grabber.

Yay for gender stereotyping.. -_-

Seriously, if my son wants to wear my little pony and dresses when he grows up, so be it. It's not going to hurt anyone. Schools need to focus more on punishing the bullies and teaching a little human decency.

I just read where people are getting my little pony tattoos, men and women, as well as wearing the logo in support of that little boy.

This might get me shot, but wearing a short skirt doesn't necessarily make you a trigger for rape, but you're going to attract more attention, and the attention of rapists.

If I were that mother, I would have a down right fit.

That is SUCH bull s*** . Here kids, we are going to make you stop being yourself in order to help you not get bullied. What kind of twisted f*** ing logic is that!?

So now bullies are what? Not getting anything for bullying while victims are being stripped of something they see as being okay, as an identity to themselves because others can't make their children compassionate?

This world is f*** ed up.
