Thank you Paige it drives me nuts when people say moms who use this method are heartless. I love my girl more than anything in the world and made the choice to sleep train her this way after reading and rereading the book. Dd now will gather her blankets walk to her bedroom at bedtime every night and puts herself to sleep.
If you have not read the Ferber Method book "Solve your Child's Sleep Problems" then you don't know what you are talking about when it comes to cio whether you are for or against it. I did it it works great. I do shake my head at the numerous posts on here about how do I get my (insert age of child here) to sleep in their crib/bed after bed sharing or co sleeping...nothing wrong with either but after training your child to sleep with you from birth you bet your ass they're going to be twice as traumatized at being shoved off into their own room at 9 months, a year, two years etc. and it's going to be very hard to get them to sleep alone in their room when you do try.
-not trying to deffend the photo- but that's probably a hospital pad. We use them there and they look identical (still wouldn't explain why its in the photo though especially when there's all those blankets)
And there's a difference in ignoring your baby and just letting them cry vs. Doing the actual step by step method after checking that they aren't wet knowing they are fed and nothi gs wrong other than they do t want to go to sleep on their own or are used to being coddled
I know. It just bugs me when people call it lazy parenting. Letting a baby who is old enough to self sooth cry it out isn't lazy. If you have ever done it you know how hard it is.
We started at 9 months and it worked great. Although I implemented a stricks bed routine at 2 months so she's never had much of an issue going to sleep on her own but that once a night waking out of habit at 9 months was when we started CIO. We never let her think we were abandoning or ignoring her. We went in every few minutes to say were still here but its time for sleep and eventually she got it. Now she sleeps 8/830 until around 4 gets a few ounces of milk and gets up about 7/730
Puggly, a 16 month old is different than a newborn.. lol.. your a good mom, just have a rebellious toddler. :)
Why the hell is there a puppy pad in there??..
thats a helpless NEWBORN. Pick that baby up.
It's not about being lazy. When my 16 month old is throwing a fit because he doesn't want to lay down in his crib. He cries it out.
I hate that method. My nurse told me to let her cry for three minutes. Console her & then put her back down & keep doing this until she's fully asleep. Parents are so lazy now a days. Goodness.
Ooh ooh, let me try!
Baby is too young for CIO.
The baby is laying on blankets.
Why oh why is there a baby monitor and the cord in the crib with the baby?
Some people find bumpers unsafe.
Baby should be laying on his/her tummy.
That baby is too young to cry it out. They are painting a horrible picture for CIO. When used properly at the proper age makes a difference.

I made the mistake of letting my first co sleep w me from birth and he ended up in my bed until he was 3 even if I would carry him to his bed after he fell alseep he would end up with us in our bed in the middle of the night. I learned my lesson and sleep trained my second. Best decision ever lol He does the same as your little girl when it's bedtime he gathers his things and heads for his bed.
(BTW I know we're a little off topic here lol)
