Benadryl Is it ok to take Benadryl while breastfeeding?

It dries up your milk supply. I wouldn't personally take that risk so that's a no from me!

In small doses and after your supply is regulated. But before that or long prolonged use can in fact affect your milk supply. I was told by the pediatrician to not use anything with Benadryl in it when I came down with a cold when my baby was a week old.

From kellymom: Many forms of Robitussin, Delsym and Benylin are considered compatible with breastfeeding. Always check the active ingredients, as there are many versions.

Monitor your infant for possible drowsiness if you use this type of antihistamine. The non-sedating antihistamines (below) are generally preferred and are less likely to sedate baby.
