Breastfeeding and pacifiers

Hey all you breastfeeding mamas are you giving your baby a pacifier? I'm scared to give mine one because I read it can mess up their latch

My kids all had them after being born and no latch or nipple confusion issues!

I offer it occasionally but she really isn't interested in it. She's nursed like a champ since the beginning.

We started this baby at 1 week and he hasn't had any issues. I started dd at 4 days but she was never a big fan

I tried to give both my kids one but neither of them took to it. I'm actually kinda glad because we didn't have to go thru any attachment issues. That being said, they are both severely attached to their blankies tho lol!

My first was a breast baby and hated the paci

My second son is a breast baby and loves his paci and he has a great latch

I was wondering the same thing and what brands they recommended?

It's recommended to wait 2 weeks before giving a pacifier to avoid latch issues. But like other people have said every baby is different :)

Both mine would have issues latching after using a paci, but only for the first few days of their lives. Once they were about a week old and had got the hang of bfing, they did just fine with them. Maybe try it and see, if they have any trouble latching at the next feeding wait a bit longer

It depends on the baby. You can't predict I gave one to all my kids never had an issue. But this baby omg. I gave him one even though the hospital recommended not to. I thought well this is not my first and I have done it with my other kids(5) so gave him one. On day two he would not latch on and it was horrible. I almost gave in to giving him formula. I have now taken away the paci and I don't know if I will give it back. He is 10 days old today. I think I'm too tired to count lol

My daughter is a week old and I had to start giving her one at 3 days old cause she was using my breast like a binki. I was afraid she wouldn't breast feed well either but have had no problems!

this girl just implied if you give your baby a pacifier that means you’re a bad mom bc you’re “plugging them up & not finding out what’s wrong with them” mind you, this girl doesn’t even have any kids. Karter takes a pacifier when he goes to sleep & as soon as it falls out (which it always does) i take it away. other than that i KNOW what’s wrong w/ him. he only cries when he’s bored or hungry. so🤷🏻 ♀ before you judge other mothers for their mothering how about you have some kids yourself first then tell me how it goes for you🤬
