What to look for in OB or Midwife

What criteria did you use when picking out your prenatal and delivery OB or Midwife?

I went with a homebirth midwife but that's what I was looking for. I wanted someone who would allow me to birth the way I wanted to. My midwife allowed me to move as much as I wanted. Change positions as I wanted. She allowed me to say no to the traditional glucose test. She in fact found another way to test for GD. That provided her better information than the traditional test. She offered all the normal tests but was fine with me saying no to any and pretty much all of it. She even supported me when I said no to vitamin K and the eye goop for my LO. In fact, she said she said no for all of her own kids too to vitamin K and stuff like that.

I had a natural birth in the hospital with a midwife and it was the best decision I made. One reason I switched from an OB to a midwife was the fact that my midwife visited me at least 3 times at home so I didn't have to leave the house if I didn't want to. Because she came to my house she helped me with all my breastfeeding issues I was having. All my appointments with my ob were super quick ( 10 minutes) whereas with my midwife they were usually around 45. Huge difference for me. Ultimately it's up to you but you should interview your primary care provider and let them know your concerns, what you expect from them and how you guys can work together to make sure you have a positive and healthy birth experience for you and baby.
