maternity leave

What do you guys think about working until your due date? I told my coworker that I was working until the baby comes and he made it seem like I was crazy. I need to be able to save as much time as I can for maternity leave but I am exhausted tho

I worked up to 32 weeks with my son but unfortunately i work in a deli and its hard for me to bend in and out of a case with a belly full in front of me.

This time is alot harder. My princess is smaller than her brother and she is my pelvis so unfortunately she is putting a lot of pressure on my pelvic region and causing round ligament pain. So i am finishing at 32 weeks again. The boss (whose male) has been good about it all. Especially when I forget my brain. 7 weeks left at work.

Its hard but can be done. I was gunna do the same thing. I'm in school full time so I was just gunna continue up until I deliver. Then take 2 weeks off.

Thanks ladies. For the most part, I'm sitting at my desk all day except for when I have to go to the booth for my show. And that's when I have to walk up the stairs. So my job isn't hard. I just hate those stairs. Maybe I could see if someone could booth my show to avoid those steps???

I don't get the negative comments about men & pregnancy... He probably just thinks that you should be relaxing and preparing for baby. That's how all the men close to me act when it comes to anything I do. My dad had me stop working mid second semester so I can focus on being healthy and so I don't have to be stressed or overwhelmed.

That was my intention too but it didn’t happen.. I clean houses so I could only work until I was 36 weeks, so I’ll be going back May 1st instead of June :(

Also, my coworkers were super helpful and wheeled me around in an office chair when I got stuck and couldn’t walk. It was a little embarrassing, but funny looking back. We joke about how much we bonded. All that to say, if you can, find a buddy at work who’d be happy to go and get you water and stuff to help you minimize the walking. And keep your phone on you at all times in case you do get lightheaded and need to ask for help.

I did! I figured I’d rather have the extra time with the baby. I have an office job, so minus my hip problems, it wasn’t hard for me to work. I used a bouncy ball at work to sit on. Plus I was able to work from home if I was unable to walk (my hip came out of socket frequently).

Depends on the type of job and whether you can physically handle it. Everyone's different, do what you want! Everyone told me i was crazy working in a nursery till 35 weeks but it's what I wanted, though I must admit it's nice to have this few weeks to rest and prepare before baby comes xx

I worked until the day before my scheduled c section. I need all the money i can get lol

That was the plan with my previous pregnancy but he came 11days early. If you feel like you can, then do it. It's got nothing to do with anyone else x

Can you get your doctor to write you a doctor's note saying you need reduced hours or light duty or something? I worked until I was 38 weeks but my shifts we're only 5 hours a couple days a week, so it wasn't too bad. I was a cashier at a grocery store, so the worst part was standing in one spot for so long, my feet and back we're killing but the short shifts helped alot!

I'm not worried about him. Bc like you guys said, he doesn't know anything about being pregnant!!! But I just wanted to know mainly if any other mamas were working until their due dates too. I want to go out early so bad!!!! But like pp said, that'll count towards my short term disability. It's hard walking tho. Bc my body is exhausted. I get weekends off but that isn't enough rest time. I'm going to keep working but only until it's no longer safe to do so. I sit at a desk for the majority of the day so it's not too bad, but I also have to go upstairs once a day which is the roughest part of my day. I always feel slightly dizzy, tingly and exhausted when I get all the way up

I wanted to work until my due date with my first, but I'm a waitress. I was literally running around on my feet for 8 hours straight at a faced paced restaurant, no break or anything. And it was middle of summer and the place I work at is mostly outdoors. I put in my two weeks at 31 weeks and said DEUCES! I could not handle it anymore. Now if it was an office job or retail, I think I could stick it out.

I was able to save up 8,000 while I worked that summer and took the whole winter off (5 months).

With this baby, I'm going to try to stick it out until at least 36 weeks this time.

I planned on working up until my baby was born, I’ll be 38 weeks tomorrow. It may or may not end up that way though....today I couldn’t work because of extreme pain and If I feel the same tomorrow I will have to skip out again :( but my work understands and said they’d rather me stay home. I’m hoping that this pain will pass and I’ll be good to go back to work until baby arrives

I wanted to work up until I delivered but in CA the Dr. can put you on disability 4 weeks prior to your due date, so I am taking advantage of the 4 weeks to get rest and get ready for my princesses arrival. I have been having horrible vaginal pressure the last 2.5 months to the point everything hurts so bad so I am counting the weeks until my leave 2 weeks as of tomorrow ;)

My doctor put me on LOA at around 12 weeks since I was having horrible migraines and dizzy/faint spells.Sucks because now I'm so bored but I mean I work at Wal-Mart distribution center so it's probably best because I couldn't imagine passing out there

I’m planning to work until my due date too!

Worked until I gave birth at 41 weeks. I’d pretty much ignore anything any man without an MD after his name had to say about pregnancy.

I work in Human Resources and do leave administration. Many women work up until their due date, but some have their doctor write them out a week before. As long as it’s physically safe to keep working, do whatever works best for you. Also consider going out early may count against any leave you are entitled to from your organization, and your priority maybe to have more time after birth than before. Good luck to you mama!

I worked until I was 40 weeks with my first two (I became a SAHM after the second). I found it better than sitting at home waiting for something to happen. My job was fairly labor intensive, but I knew my limits and everything was just fine.

Tell him when he gets pregnant he can feel free to start his leave whenever he wants.

Нравится Ответить

What on earth does a man know about being pregnant? Tell him to bugger off with his mansplaining. You can work until you feel uncomfortable. I worked until my due date.

That was my plan to work until I went into labor. That's not what's happening though. As a server, it's really hard on my hips and back with how big she is now. I'm 3 weeks away from my due date and these past 2 weeks have been hell on my body. I'm misreable all the time in constant pain. My GM told me that Friday is the last day she is comfortable letting me work becuase she can tell how misreable I am. She's also terrified I'm going to go into labor while serving a table lol even though I don't want to stop working, I honestly think it's best. I need to slow down and focus on mine and babies health as opposed to working 40+ hours on my feet. It's not a bad thing to stop early if you can do it. I wish I didn't have to but I can't keep going at the pase I've been at. It's time for some tlc for me and baby at home until she comes.
