vbac or c section???

I was cramping really bad in Walmart. And it made me think twice about having a vbac. With my first, I felt all of the contractions leading up to me being 8 centimeters dilated....with no medicine. My dr told me that my previous dr cut me horizontally AND vertically to get my baby out so if there are any problems I won't get to have a vbac. Plus I have an anterior placenta which could cause more problems. I'm wondering if I should just forego the vbac and be safe with the c section. Any advice from ladies who have had a vbac??

@biscuitsandgravy I'm nervous either way. I know what recovery and pain is like for a c section but I have no idea what to expect for a vaginal delivery ?

Statistically having a repeat c section is much more dangerous than a VBAC. Ill be trying for a VBAC this time around. My c section recovery was a breeze, but I don’t remember anything from my sons birth and I refuse to go through that again

@babymama soundslike you were really close!! Glad you were able to have your vbac. I'm staying hopeful but going to prepare myself just in case

I had a c-sec with my first and I've had 2 successful VBACs. My first labor was horrible, everyone thought I was crazy for wanting to try a VBAC but the dr was supportive as long as labor came naturally(which it did both times, my water broke). With my first I dialated to 10 but my baby was sunny side up and wouldn't turn or come down when I pushed, my water had been broken for over 24hrs and the baby and I ended up getting infections from all the checking they kept doing, in the end I was super tired physically and emotionally I yelled at the dr to give me f'n c-sec, which he did...after a week of being in the hospital and once I was at home I kept thinking of how close I was to having him naturally. And kinda blaming myself, so I knew I wanted to try for VBACs for any future children. This is my 4th baby and I hope to have another VBAC, as long as this one comes on naturally as well.

@krisall eith my first, the dr let me go all the way until I was 8 centimeters dilated before giving me an emergency c section. My baby was turning to get in position. She was transverse or sideways. I wanted to have a vaginal birth but with me being 33 weeks, dr just called it. I'm hoping this time will ne a little different. I'm on the Makena shots so we'll see how it goes!!

I really wanted a vbac w/ this baby. My doctor is pro vbac, but doesn't think we are good candidates for it with having some issues the first time around. So I'm going to just trust his advice and go with it, it's the safer option for a healthy baby for me so in my mind there's no question. Plus like said, I would hate to have another emergency c section after having labored again- it was soo hard on my body as well. So I'm hoping having it all planned out will be easier. Best of luck on whichever route you choose!

My first two babies were c-sections and my second 2 were vaginal. Baby #5 will be another VBA2C (God-willing). In the end, it really is up to you. It's very important to be surrounded by very supportive group of people. It made a huge difference for me.

I had a csection with my son and will with this baby too. My doctor offers vbac if you want it but prefers csection. I just remember what I went through with 22 hours in labor, feeling my csection and getting knocked out because of it. I'd much rather have it all preplanned with better hopes for a smooth birth and recovery than last time.

Thank you. I just really started to thibk about it bc the dr was confused as to why my old dr did both. I think I'll keep doing my research on it and talk some more to the dr and make a final decision

In the end, thats all up to you.

Personally, id go for the c section. I had one with my twins 8 years ago and my obgyn dosnt offer vbac so im getting another one this time too. And im totally fine with it. It can be dangerous anyways let alone if youve had complication. Thats just my personal opinion though

Any 1st time moms who had a c-section? My due date is Wednesday. At my Dr appt today, my Dr said I'm not dilated at all. My baby has been measuring big all along, and my Dr now estimates he is about 9.5lbs and doesn't think I can deliver him naturally... so she scheduled me for a c-section on Thursday. This is my 1st baby, and I really don't know how to feel about it all.
