What does your baby eat for each meal?

What does your baby eat for each meal?

Does your baby eat just one thing at each meal? Or a variety of things? I normally feed my LO just one thing per meal (like one gerber tub of green beans)... but my mom thought i should be feeding him a little veggie, a little fruit & a little "main dish" at each meal. What do you do? Since food before 1 is just for fun, i didn't think it really mattered what I feed him?

My lo just wants boob for every meal :-/ we were so excited to start solids and we give him pieces of whatever we are having to eat but he just takes a taste of food, plays with it, and then tosses it! All of these meals everyone is talking about sounds so overwhelming but fun at the same time! I'm a little jealous. Hahaha.

We are doing BLW but we have tried some organic baby food. My lo isn't a fan of baby food so we're sticking with BLW. I have a hardcore booby baby.

We had to meet with a dietician when my girls were 8 months old because they were 2 months premature. She told us they should be eating equal parts rice or oatmeal, protein, and fruits/veggies. She was less concerned about quantity, and more about general balance and quality over a 24hr period.

We do:

Plain yogurt for breakfast

Protein (meat or egg yolks) and veggies for lunch

Oatmeal with fruit at night

They still drink 5 bottles a day, and they have not really decreased their drinking despite introducing solids.

I've been using avocado as a thickening base lately too :)

We do Greek strain nonfat plain yogurt with fruit in the mornings. (Not always in the mood for breakfast)

Then we don't usually do any meals until around 2. In between, he eats lots of puffs, gerber wafers, and grated cheese.

Then he eats 2-3 jars/pouches of food by the time he goes to bed. They are stage 2- macaroni/turkey/sweet potato

Ham/pineapple/rice

Etc

Sometimes I'll do veggie combos or veggie/fruit combos substituting the meal type foods.

He hasn't been very interested lately though.

I make all his food & we have started actual solids. So he gets 2 veggies & a meat at dinner. Last night he had asparagus stalks, cut up carrots & chicken. Tonight, long pieces of green beans, chicken, & broccoli. He loves feeding himself!

It varies. If I'm having a bunch of steamed veggies for dinner I'll give him some of each to chew and eat. If I'm not eating something he's ready for I'll steam him one food or give him one that doesn't require any prepping. Yesterday he had carrots. This morning for breakfast he had yoke from a hard boiled egg, banana and some waffle.

We're BLW. Breakfast was banana, oatmeal muffin (homemade) and yogurt. Dinner is: steak, carrot, cauliflower.

Water with meals when he wants it.

He just eats what we eat without salt.

I find it too much of a hassle to prepare too much at once especially when hes screaming. Fruit and cereal in the morning, veggies and cereal for lunch and dinner. But I give him real fruit pieces and other things throughout the day.

My son is not interested in food at all! It's a fight to get a few spoonfuls into his mouth! I can't imagine trying to have that many different foods at each meal.

Is anyone else having trouble getting their lo interested in solids?

It doesn't really matter. But I've been doing combos for fun and variety. As he gets older, (8-9 months) I think your mom is right.

Typical meals around here are fruit and oatmeal, two fruits together, or two veggies together. I introduce one new food and serve it for a few days (the four day wait rule) while I serve foods he's had before.

Going to start meats and yogurt soon, so that will add more variety.

Some of these meal portions I see be scaring me. Like damn I hope you eat 6x a day. That’s the only way I can (not pregnant) eat that little at a time. Maybe I just never knew regular food portions Ctfu is Jamaican and every plate is a pile up. Then my husband don’t make it any better. He eats a giant bowl of food every meal and not just one bowl half the time. I love that kind of feeding ... not sorry. That’s why I married a big man with a big appetite and having his kids who has the same appetite as us both.
