i gradually cut her feedings. i usually dont say no to her whenever she asks but to wean her off, i started to limit it bit by bit. she cried a bit cause she no longer get to nurse whenever she wants. then she no longer asks to nurse, only during nap and bedtime. that one took more time (months!) but i didn't rush her, i was still her human pacifier at night. i tried a few times to get her to sleep without the boob but she just couldn't, so i just let her be. then, on weekends, when we go out, sometimes she falls asleep in the car, or in the stroller or i rock her to sleep, she knows she don't get the boob unless it's on the bed, so she doesn't asks anymore when we're outside. so after she was able to sleep without the boob, after a while, i tried to wean her off completely last weekend with a little bit of help. since we're out, i let her fall asleep like she used to when we're outside but i was still her human pacifier that night. the following day, i asked a family member who she's closes with to help with the naptime. surprisingly, she was able to sleep. then, for bedtime, i started singing to her and she loves to sing, she didn't even protest lol so she sings with me until she fell asleep. i was also surprised. she wakes up a few times at night but i asked dh to help with that and it worked. she wakes up a few times that night but only the first the time was the hardest and longer to get her back to sleep but dh still was able to soothe her back to sleep everytime. and the next day, she doesn't asks to nurse to sleep anymore. the second night, i did the same, i sang to her until she sleeps and i was able to just rub her back to sleep. even i was surprised. it's a long process (4 months!) but it's finally done and she didn't fight it as hard as i thought she would cause we took it very slowly.

i honestly still couldn't believe it. there was a time when i thought she'll never part with the boob haha. now she no longer wants to nurse, it's harder for me to let go than it's for her. she's over it by now lol ?

How did you do it? I'm in the same boat. Lo only nurses to sleep, and I know I'll be sad when he's finally done, but I reaaaally want my boobs back.

I honestly thought it would be hard to wean my son. It didn't take much a few cranky nights and constantly telling him no for trying to go for it lol. Less than a month. I sometimes miss it but when he started producing teeth that was it for me lol.

I was the exact same way! Every time my DS hit a milestone that made him less dependent on me was bittersweet. He's 2.5 now though and it's so amazing to watch him do things on his own.

You'll both find ways to stay close. It's a *long* ways off before he doesn't need his mama anymore, so don't worry!

I felt the same way when my son weaned. It was around the same age. It took 2 months. I think it's normal.
