Mummy's that delivered at Logan help ?
Hi mummy's I had first birth class tonight and they were saying that when bub comes out they make u have skin on skin for an hr and half no matter what did they do this with u?
Don't be scared honey they will show you and help you with what to do if you're not sure. Also, please believe me when I say that once that lil man is in your arms even if you haven't got an ounce of strength left in you nothing will make you drop him. It will all come naturally. ;-) x
I'm just worried I might not have any energy left or strength I'm worried about dropping him :(
Do they try get u to breast feed soon as they are born n placed on you? If so do they show u how to do it sorry I should know all this as I'm due soon but know body has told me any of it so bit scared I won't be good at it,
I can't help with the amount of people in as I only wanted my fiance but I had nearly 2 hours of skin on skin because that's how long she fed for had she of finished earlier it wouldn't of been as long but honestly it was nice just holding her and watching her (and being able to not have to hand her over straight away) after carrying her for 9 months :)
Thanks huni that does :) I just hear different things from each midwife iv seen so I don't no what to expect
I delivered twice at Logan (Qld). Got told 2 allowed in the room but my friend had 3 a few yrs back. Did about an hour skin to skin with my 1st bub while they were stitching me up but 2nd delivery wasnt as smooth so it was about 30 mins skin to skin while I was in recovery but not straight after the birth. Hope that helps hun x
Thanks heaps for that :) yea I defiantly don't want 7 in with me lol but 3 I'm happy n comfy with I didn't think about them needing breaks and stuff opps hehehe :)
I'm not sure if it was just that mid wife running the class that is like that as my specialist there told me at the start 3 was ok as bubs dad had walked out ect guess its who u get at the time :)
I thought it was strange she said skin on skin was hr n half n not to let anyone hold baby,
I've not been to Logan honey (nor do I even know where that is lol) but I can tell you from my own experience you probably won't want a whole heap of people staring at your bits and bobs anyway. 3 sounds ok but if they say 2 just ask one to wait in the waiting room maybe? They can even take it in turns or "shifts" so to speak. Then if anyone needs to go get you anything or wants a break (I labored for 52 hours so this was very much needed for my poor mum and fiancé lol) they can have one and you'll still have supportive people there the whole time. I can't imagine having over 7 people. Not only would it have stressed me right the heck out, I don't think it's really a great idea in terms of if something were to go wrong etc. I just imagine people being majorly in the way.
As far as skin to skin goes, they did put my baby on my chest straight away but it wasn't for an hour and half. Probably more like half an hour. I know it's different in your situation but my bubbas daddy wanted a cuddle too (I imagine your bubbas grandmas will too!). It will depend on whether everything's ok as well. Sometimes babies need extra care and you don't get the skin to skin anyway.
We did a lot of skin to skin in the hours afterwards when I was teaching my little man to feed and was back in maternity (curtains closed obviously hehe!). Don't stress too much about that kind of stuff. You tend to just do what happens at the time. I highly doubt they have strict rules about how long skin to skin MUST go for.
Anyways. It might be different at your hospital? Bump for anyone who's been to Logan. ;-)
Hospital bags help
Hi mummy's I'm going to be 30 w tues was thinking of starting to pack my hospital bags for me n bub this week as i may go early, I no some mummy's say they didn't use half the stuff they took so was wondering what are the main things I need so I can go shopping and what u didn't need I'm having him at Logan hospital not sure if they supply anything
Until u know what another parent is going through, dont judge.cause if they didn't need the money, they wouldn't sell the food. U just never know another person situation.
