Iv just started receiving ppl and I'm getting $1062 a fortnight after tax all up it comes to $9200 for 18 weeks after tax so it's alot better then baby bonus as that only equals to $5000 so if your eligible then go for ppl :)

Sorry to hijack and thanks for the reassurance :)

Ok I just worked out that I only need to work 10 more 8hr shifts to get to 330 hrs and I still have 22 more shifts before maternity leave. Cool, now I'm relieved.

You could possibly still be eligible. The first time I called and inquired about it the man on the phone said that under some circumstances if you haven't completed the 330 hours you could still be eligible for it. If the lady on the phone said you are still right to get it then you should be ok. I'm still waiting to hear back on whether I'm eligible, I meet all criteria except the amount of hours I work. My boss cut mine down so it stuffed up my hours for the tame frame I could apply. Fingers crossed we both get it!

I called centrelink because I've had more than the 2mths off due to hyperemesis, I got a doctors certificate stating the bulk time that I've had off and the person i spoke to said that would be fine. Will there be any trouble with me receiving the payment if I don't then make the 330hrs because I've had to reduce my hours because of being so sick? I'm scared it will effect our eligibility.

Cool. Thanks

Ppl is the national minimum wage which is just over $600 p/w. it's the exact same amount for everyone :) if your still currently employed then centrelink send it to your employer who when then pay it to u in your normal pay cycle. If you've quit etc then centrelink I'm guessing pay it to u directly :) it has nothing to do with your normal salary..

Нравится Ответить

So, with ppl, does it just end up being your normal salary paid by centre link through your employer? Or is it a portion of your normal wage?

Нравится Ответить

We earn 100k between us u chose ppl as its 10k yes it's taxed but I get 1200 fortnight plus what my employer pay me

Нравится Ответить

Yeah you still get single parent payment and family tax part A. Once ppl is finished you will start getting part B as well. I was told all this on the phone from centrelink the other day ?

Centrelink sucks! So confusing and not very helpful. Although I do like the money they provide :)

Thanks girls

Ok you'll get ppl (if that's what u chose) plus ftb part a plus single parent. Once ppl has finished ftb part b will start. My gf is currently receiving these payments ATM.

As a single mum you'll get family tax benefit a and b. part a is for all low income families and part b is for single income households which you will be and you ppl will be classed as income. You should also be entitled to rent assistance as well if you're renting. Once your ppl is finished you can talk to Centrelink about getting single parent pension and if you already qualify for Austudy then you should qualify for spp. To qualify for ppl it's not just how many hours you've worked in a 13 month period, but how many weeks you haven't worked. If you haven't worked in the 8-10 weeks prior to your baby being born then you may not be eligible, but then you would qualify for single parent pension and baby bonus if you can't get ppl. Does that make sense? Good luck!

I'm not sure what's best either I am going to be single mum :( I spoke to a lady the other day from Centrelink she said fill out online for the ppl and if I'm not eligible when bub comes they just swap it to the bb with out a problem I didn't no u don't get the single parents payment or the ftb a-b while u get the ppl is that right ? So for the 18w it's just the ppl nothing else ? I'm confused sorry night just be my baby brain lol I'm currently on the aus study as since I had to stop work due to high risk I started doing a course full time so they just change that when bub comes to the other one but while I was working it was 48hrs a week sometimes more the lady said long as it was 330hrs in the last 13months I should be eligible is that right my boss is writing me a letter with my start date there 2 yrs ago and how many hrs I have done in the last 13months hoping that's all I need is that right jaz ??

Sorry I missed the bit where you said you will be a single mum, so not sure what would be best in that situation.

If you are entitled to PPL then get that. I got just over $9000 with PPL (presuming my employer wasn't topping it up) No you don't get FTB etc but it still more then the BB when you add it all up. I'm also pretty sure it's the same rate for everyone. I was working 28 hours a week and a girl I worked with (had her baby 2 weeks after me) worked 42hrs pw & got the same. Not fair if you ask me but I guess that's just how they do it.

I agree with pp. if you received ppl then I think it affects your other entitlements. You will receive the single parent benefit but may not receive it until after the ppl is finished.

Also something to consider is how much you've already earned this financial year and if you would be likely to return before the EOFY.

I receive a pension so we chose to get baby bonus instead and keep all the other entitlements, I also returned to work at 2 weeks post partum.

I got ppl, it was about $1152 pfn, I think I was paying $176 tax pfn.. I didn't earn much in that financial year tho

Нравится Ответить

If you are a single mum your are better off with the bonus and all your other entitlements

If you are partnered your better of getting paid parental leave

:)

I honestly have no idea BUT wouldn't ppl be better considering its now $600 p/w before tax compared to $380 p/f for the bb?? Look up the ato for the tax rates & it'll tell u how much tax you'll pay on it. The exact ppl figure is on the centrelink website (I think).

I personally don't get it but yeah how would bb be better than ppl when it's like double the amount?? Lol :(

I meant $110K sorry :/

Combined hubby and I earned approx $110 last financial year and based on that parental leave works out to be approx $2000 more after tax!!! It's def better I think.

How do I find out what it is after tax to no if its better than the bonus for me is there a way to know that before he's born I applyed for that n the family tax online the other day with help from lady on the ph but couldn't find anywhere to tell me how Much or anything

Нравится Ответить

If you haven't had a large income then it wouldn't matter to much, just check whether it brings u in the the higher tax bracket tho, that's were ppl get stung where it brings you just over into the next tax bracket;)

Oh ok jaz I think in the last financial ur when I just did my tax it was $32000 for the year does that make a difference how do I work out if I'm better off with ppl or bonus I only just started using the online n it confused me :(

Нравится Ответить

PPL is about 4 or 5 grand more. You get over $500 a week and the BB is just under $400 a fortnight.

Нравится Ответить

It will depend on how much you have earnt before hand, baby bonus isn't taxed, ppl is. No one can tell you what's going to be right for your family, even centrelink can't because if u decide it wasn't right for u, u can't come back and blame it on centrelink if that makes sense

Нравится Ответить

I would talk to someone about it. I know some people who got taxed big time because of ppl and ended up with way less then even the baby bonus in the end.

Нравится Ответить

I think I worked it out that the paid parental leave is about 4 grand more. But please someone correct me if I'm wrong. Centrelink pays it to your employer and then they pay it to you as a wage, so yes you are taxed. I get just over a thousand a fortnight

I find it pretty hilarious how people who have shown their true colors on social media snake away, delete the posts that outed them and come back on social media like nothing happened. Why do that, you outed yourself, so stay out. We still see you boo boo...
