See I'm not going to look at age. Yes we all know your young. But at 16 I found my husband. Married at 18 and got pregnant right after. My husband and I have been together 11 years. I have bipolar and have had ppd. He stuck with me though all of it. There was a good year I wasn't myself. It was a very dark year for me but he stayed by my side though it all. The er trips due to my panic attacks. Therapy appmts, med changes to find the right one..sleepless nights because he was worried.... Why? Because he is my partner he knew anything in our relationship was for better or for worse... Your Ex is the failure. He is the one who didn't take your hand in this and helped when you needed it the most. Ppd is facking rough and there no good side to it. But with the right support it can be made easier to come out from.... It's hard enough alone. But to have a partner not willing to at least offer there hand in support makes all the more rough. Your not a failure. Far from it. Don't let your mind tell you that. If he can so easily walk away then he will never be the partner you need and want. You'll come out stronger from this. It doesn't feel like it now but you will.

Pp I understand. I'm mature enough in my eyes, but may not be to others. But hey, people have different opinions and that's okay. I do understand your point. (Not trying to be snarky lol)

Just to be clear, not judging him for having another child. I just don't believe a 17 year old is mature enough to deal with her own child and being a step mother.

I always found him to be creepy anyway. He already had a child and got a minor pregnant, not the type of person you want to be with, good riddance.

I have ppd and sometimes I'm so crappy with DF that I feel like I'm going to ruin our relationship but fortunately DF is understanding. It's not your fault he should've been more understanding about it, I'm sorry you're going through this.

@cams- I partially agree. My marriage to my HS sweetheart failed. My sister's marriage to hers is strong and mature. They got married at 26/27 and had their first baby at 31/32. They grew together well, while my ex didn't grow up at all.

If he couldn't handle this bump on the road, he's in no way ready for marriage.. Marriage is not a walk in the park, and if he's not willing to put in all the effort it takes, you dodged a bullet.. I'm sure it sucks and you're feeling alone and I'm sorry for that... But you have to be strong and keep your head up for your baby. Good luck and take are of yourself and that beautiful baby! ❤️

Also, my ex left me when my son was 9 months old, we had our son when we were 16. Honestly, it was the best thing that ever happened to me, even though at the time I thought the world was ending. That's part of being a teenager, it's hard to see the big picture (no disrespect whatsoever, it's just the truth) it's easy to get wrapped up in your head, focus on the wrong things, feel like you're drowning in your reality. I promise though, it will all work out. It will get better, the pain will ease, you'll find the bright side, things won't always be this way. Hang in there ?

Sorry hunny, but ppd didn't ruin your relationship. Your baby is what, 6wks old? If he has already left, then it wasn't meant to be.

Maybe he'll realize he was an ass and come back and try and fix it.

My dh dealt with a depressed period and I couldn't understand it, I got so angry that he couldn't (wouldn't I thought) just snap the f*** out of it. I hated that I couldn't fix it and I hated that I didn't understand.

Eventually I made him go to a therapist otherwise I couldn't do it anymore and I went with him and that therapist b**** slapped me verbally up and down.

I ended up doing my own counseling to learn how to deal and cope and help. Sometimes people don't know what to do. So maybe he'll straighten up like i did

PPD did not ruin your relationship, it showed that he's not willing to stick it out when things get hard. I had severe PPD with my last son, my husband would get frustrated that he couldn't help me but that's it. He still loved me, wanted to take care of me, tried to help me. That's what a real man is supposed to do. Your PPD just proved that your boyfriend wasn't ready to step up and do what needs to be done and in the long run, you'll look back at this as one of the best things that ever happened to you

If I married the guy I was in love when I was 17... Well, I'd be living in a van down by the river.

Not really but you get my point. That guy was a loser and still is.

Not the case with all couples but the men you love in your adolescent years are certainly not the ones you should end up with.

Good luck.

Been there done that mama... Thankfully it worked out for us though. You can do whatever you need to without him. If he's going to leave you and make you take care of your baby by yourself then that already shows you what kind of man he is and personally that's not a man at all.

You're 17. You can't possibly be a failure when you have your entire life ahead of you. Maybe PPD didn't ruin your relationship, but showed you that you weren't meant to be with that person. I believe if someone truly loves you they will help you through hard times, not give you more hard times.

I'm so sorry. ?

Eta: @Fother worded it perfectly.

A man should always love and support you especially through hard times.
