Maternity leave When did you ladies start your maternity leave and soon after did you have bub?

Nicspeanut I could just take it.

I couldn't handle working anymore but I also was so bored at home I may as well should of just worked, my reason to work as far up to as possible is so I get more time at home with bub after the birth before having to go back to work.

Seriously take the 4 weeks and use it to rest and make the most of it being just u. If u dont already have kids then its the small things like leaving the house with just keys and purse or running into the shop etc

Thanks ladies, I want to go 4 weeks before my due date but oh can't see why I would want to. I think he think I should work right up until I go into labour

I had the option of starting my leave early at 31 weeks or using 3 weeks of sick leave and then starting my mat leave on the date I was supposed to.

After going into labour early I wasn't allowed to go back to work.

If your ob will write you a sick certificate then your work will have to let you use your sick leave until your mat leave was due to start.

The only difference would be if you give birth during your sick leave, then mat leave would start immediately (or it does at my work anyway).

I will be 34+1 when I go on mat leave

Edit - although the first week is technically annual leave.

I started mine at 34 weeks my workplace requires to leave 6 weeks prior to due date unless u have drs permission I had dd at 38.4 weeks..I enjoyed it especially when u have other kids

Started leave at 34 ( I needed drs permission to stay longer and couldn't be bothered with the extra paper work. Works policy) I had ds 37 weeks. I think I may have gone insane if ds hadn't come early lol

With dd i started at 34 weeks. She was born at 40 weeks and i was soooo bored! With this bub i started at 35+1 and im having a csection at 37+6 so i had about 2.5 weeks.

I started mat leave at 36 weeks. Didn't go into labor until until 40+9. Its was the longest 5 weeks of my life.

I was scheduled to finish at 36 weeks but left at 32 weeks due to high blood pressure.

Gave birth at 38 weeks - 6 weeks of pure laziness.

With my daughter I took it at 36 weeks and had her just over a week later. This one I'm leaving at 32weeks but taking annual leave first. For those that took it as sick leave was that because something was wrong or you're allowed to take sick leave? I've got a lot of sick leave so that would be handy if I could use it ;)

I'm hoping to work up until 38 weeks... Technically I will be 37+6 on my last day at work.

I need to save up all the money I can.

But my doctor is reluctant at this stage to say whether I will be ok to work until then as I work in childcare. Plus it will be middle of summer.

Starting at the end of this week. I'll be 32wks. Using 2 wks of sick leave and then maternity leave. Likely to deliver bubs at around 37-38 wks.

I started at 31 weeks after going in to early labour. That was 6 weeks ago. Time has gone surprisingly quick! I took 3 weeks of sick leave and my mat leave was due to start at 34 weeks anyway

I went on mat leave at 38 weeks. I'm due this Saturday.

I'm taking mine at 36 weeks :)

38 (37 tho as I took a week sick leave) & had dd at 40+4. It was a long 3.5 weeks lol
