Is it just my docs?
Idk why, but every time I go to the doctor they just check my blood pressure, weight, urine, baby's heartbeat, and send me on my way!
That's all my dr does. I just figured it's because all is going well. I know she will not check cervix until in labour because she doesn't think checking all the time is good. And I do have regular ultrasounds checking for weight but that is just because my previous pregnancy was complicated.
Those are the typical dr visits....at 35/36 wks u should start going weekly...at that time is when they test for Group B...I had my appt today, and it was the 1st check of any progress. I too have not had any other ultra sounds, typically they don't unless high risk or to check on LO
I've had the same kind of appointments! I go in, leave urine, get weighed, they measure my stomach and listen to the baby's heartbeat! I was told last week they would start checking my cervix this week (36). But I still haven't been given an estimated weight of my little guy! I haven't had an ultrasound since July! Idk if that's unusual or normal but it's killing me because I want to see him and know he's okay rather than just being told he's fine!
My midwives check blood pressure, weight, fundal height, hemoglobin and glucose, and urine. And baby's heartbeat. No cervical checks will be happening until after labor begins. There's no reason for them. You dilate weeks and even months (in rare cases) in advance of labor. Things going 'up' just increase chance of infection or messing with something.
I have a low risk pregnancy, I only got an ultrasound when I was 11 weeks and when I was 20 weeks. When I see my midwife she just checks urine, heartbeat, bp and measures belly. I'm 37 weeks and thats how all my app are. They will only check my cervix in labour, thats just how they do it here x
Im 37 weeks and they also just take my urine, my weight, blood pressure, and babys heartbeat. Sooometimes she measures my stomach. Thats it. And they BARELY gave me a c section date which is gonna be oct 26 -_- allll this time!...& they never offered me a hospital tour either. I barely found out where Im giving labor at. So annoying..
It sounds like your lucky to have a normal pregnancy, that is exactly how it was with my first. My second one and this one are both high risk so they do the extra stuff otherwise it would just be the same quick checks. Also at 36 weeks your cervix doesn't need checked you will be fine to have a baby anytime between now and 42 weeks, baby weight is something usually checked if you have GD as well never had them check that with a normal pregnancy
I had another ultrasound at 36 weeks because the appointment before my belly measured big. So they wanted to see how she was growing. That's when they estimated the weight. I haven't been checked for anything else. I have an appointment Friday. I'll be 37 weeks. Still been going every 2 weeks, but hopefully she will check for dilation or something lol
That sounds completely normal for having a doctor. You don't need extra ultrasounds, which is how they guess the babies weight. Cervical checks are unnecessary, until you hit 40 weeks really. They just increase your risk of infection and don't determine when you will go into labour. Although, some will check at 39 weeks to do a membrane sweep.
First off a note about checking a babies weight and growth this far in to pregnancy... It is not accurate unfortunately. My doctors won't even do it because of that reason! As far as everything else every doctor is different some will check you some won't. They are checking the important stuff so I wouldn't worry too much, but if you would like to know if you are dilated and what not just request an exam!
That sounds about right. I'll be 36 weeks at my next appointment and she said the only thing she'll do differently is to start checking my cervix. Also, unless you are high risk or there is some other issue, after the anatomy scan you usually don't get anymore ultrasounds. It seems that a lot of people that are posting u/s pics late in pregnancy either are high risk or paid for it themselves from an outside facility.
My doctors office does the same thing. I haven't had an ultrasound through them since 20w. My cervix was checked last week, but only because I asked. My doctor told me if I'm not having any concerns or issues, they don't technically need to check me...its more or less information for them in case I call in with contractions that way they can say whether I should go into L&D. My office doesn't do growth scans either unless there is an issue (my stomach isn't measuring on time, bleeding, leakage, etc.)
I don't have a doctor. I have a nurse. She's not the brighted person but I don't have a choice. I only got 2 ultrasounds my entire pregnancy and vitals. Makes me super nerves because my first pregnancy was completely different. I had multiple ultrasounds and tests.
I'll see my baby when he's born. Praying he's still a him lol
The fluid and measurements I get in the ultrasound, which I do every week due to risk factors. However, in my appointments, it's pretty much the same as yours except they measure my belly and do an NST now. As far as the cervix, our childbirth instructor said that many doctors are foregoing physically checking until absolutely necessary because each check is a chance for infection and complications.
I'm 36w/2d and I have to have all that done plus the heartbeat monitor to make sure everything is alright due to his size and that started at 35 weeks. I have another ultrasound at 38 weeks and probably induced at 39 but this is all do to monitoring his weight. My last appointment which was Monday, my midwife said since it's my 36w that she can now start checking for dilation every appointment if I want her to. You should just ask to see
Each appointment my weight, blood pressure, fundal height, and baby's heart rate are checked. Nothing else. The only reason she did an ultrasound at my last appointment was to show an intern the head was down so she knew what she was feeling for externally. No cervix check until I'm in labor, possibly if I go over 40 weeks.
That's all my hospital midwife does too. Ultrasounds are unnecessary (and very inaccurate) unless there's a medical reason. They can measure baby size by a measuring tape over the belly (mine do that). Fluid levels are only checked at my hospital is there seems to be a problem or the tape measure is way off week wise. Cervix checks can tell you if you're dilated or effaced at all but the results mean nothing usually. You can be both for weeks with no chance of labor happening. Just your body preparing =)
My appointments are the same way and I prefer them that way. All those extras just increase your chances of unnecessary inductions and c sections. I'm not getting any cervix checks until after 40 weeks and I'll only get ultrasounds if there is something wrong or she is starting to measure smaller suddenly.
Yeah they know how far along I am, and they still don't check it! Also I was told I get no more ultrasounds. I haven't had one since 18 weeks 6 days.
That's exactly how my appointments went and they would measure my stomach unless I had to give blood or something but now that I'm 36 weeks I have an appointment friday and I will have another ultrasound to check the baby weight and everything and get my cervix checked and I will be getting my cervix check at every weekly appointment now until baby come. But I last week I got my cervix check due to having to urinate every hour so they wanted to make sure I wasn't leaking fluid and that's when I found out I was 1cm
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
TWW!!
2dpo and on the tww journey. Anyone on the same dpo or close? Haven't decided if I will test at 12dpo or just wait and see if she shows up!!
Short Luteal Phase?
I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.

Same here too! Except she also measures my belly. It's such a waste of time to go sometimes ? it all takes like 5 minutes and I'm out.
