Help I'm so confused on how to apply for short term disability ?

I had to sign up at the beginning of the year along with my health insurance, it comes right out of my checks. When I told HR that I was pregnant, they said "please tell me that you signed up for STD". If not, I wouldn't be getting paid for the time I will be off.

Everything depends on what state you are in if you are in cali let me know and I can give you all the info you need anywhere else I can't be of much help. California has one of the better STD in the states. Normally it's 4 weeks before baby is born and 6-8 weeks after depending on the type of delivery.

My work has a 3rd party deal with our fmla std and Loa. I would check with your hr department and see how they handle the claims. When I had my daughter last yr I got std for 12 weeks. This time since I have cut my hrs my std claim was denied.

It comes out of my check it's one of the things my company takes out for but I know you still have to apply to get the std and it's really confusing

I had to have std before i became pregnant. It comes out of my check with my insurance. Because we were trying i got std and hospitalization which pays 1500 towards any overnight hospital bill.

Once i go on leave my dr will write a note saying how many weeks i need off. They will pay me for those weeks at my regular salary.

I can also use my days accumulated at work to get paid at the same time as well. Ill run out of days around 5 weeks though but two checks will be awesome while it lasts =}

I believe your doctor has to deem you disabled and request the paperwork for you.

It is confusing. But when I looked around on their website, it's seems like you have to apply after having the baby. Unless your doctor pulls you out of work for pregnancy related problems.

Every where is different but I doubt you can apply anymore...you usually have to do it before you find out you are pregnant...I know I had to wait like 4 months to get pregnant for it to be able to kick in...but hopefully you can get something! Good luck!

I would call your hr department and see if they do both your leave and your short term. Some companies use two different ones. They will be able to give you all the information you need.

I could be wrong but I don't think it's something you can apply for when your pregant, you have to do it when you enroll I'm your insurance, call your hr and ask
