I've been using aquaphor for two days now and he literally looks like a different child!! It has cleared up like 90% of it!! Thanks so much everyone!

Aquaphor after a bath and Cetaphil during the day works for my oldest. We dont bath everyday and bath time is only like 3 mins, with warm water. I also use oatmeal bath wash.

I agree with the pp to keep skin cool even baths. Obviously we don't want to bathe them in cold water but Luke warm short baths with oatmeal in it. If you're child is allergic to aveeno products, equate makes one also. Aquaphor is amazing and I put it on my sons skin whenever it's dry. His is so bad his dr gave him the most mildest prescription to use once a day after his bath. Oh and wash his face in a mild soap a few times a day.

So I have dealt with eczema with my first like this and here's my 2 cents.. Right now you need an ointment base, so I recommend aquaphor ointment not the cream/lotion, the ointment. Do the ointment directly after baths and In the am and again mid afternoon ( do ointment on bad eczema spots at 3 times a day as stated above and use vanicream on rest of the body). Once it gets under control do daily vanicream all over body after baths and when they wake up in the morning. It's expensive, but it will last a while and helps a lot. You have to use it everyday.

They will eventually outgrow it. Mine did by the time he was a year old, but we still use vanicream after baths every night and he is now 21 months.

Other tips: Use non scented and non dyed laundry detergent for sensitive skin, tide and all make good ones, they come in white containers. Use non scented/sensitive baby wash. Use sensitive baby wipes. Avoid wearing perfumes yourself. Do Luke warm baths not hot. I recommend baths every other day until it is under control, if you do this then apply the ointment and lotion as you would before he goes to bed.

Try not to let him get too hot or too much sun that can trigger outbreak too.

When you do solids, citrus fruits like oranges and berries like strawberries may cause eczema to flare up.

My daughter had red rashy spots on her cheeks that get dry and scaly. They are probably excema but we haven't asked the doc because they are mild.

What clears hers up almost within hours is a natural product from chagrin valley soap and salve. We've used their baby oil and their baby salve and both clear up her skin super fast and make it feel baby soft again. When I skip putting it on the rash comes back.

Her skin is also super sensitive - a kiss gives her a red mark and these products have been gentle.
