A nurse can't write an Rx, so it must have been the doctor you saw who prescribed it, and it was probably for a reason...some bacteria in UTIs aren't responsive to certain meds, and the cultures likely came back that the med they prescribed is the best for treating what you have. UTIs if left untreated can create serious complications in pregnancy so it may be a lesser of two evils situation.

Are you allergic to penicillin? That's safe during pregnancy

Thank you for the responses!

Being in the first trimester I am so nervous with taking a chance. I also wasn't sure if they prescribed it because maybe it's stronger? Because they only prescribed a day and halfs worth.

I had a uti at 6 weeks and they prescribed that to me. I had the bacteria ecoli, which is why they prescribed it to me. I'm now 13 weeks and everything is still okay with me and baby! It cleared everything up very quickly as well.
