Being held

Ahh i dont know what to do. FTM here and my LO seems to only stop fussing when being held. At night he gets really fussy in his bassinet so it'll resort to him sleeping on me and during the day today all he wants to do is be held. I don't know what else to do because it seems like all he wants is to be held 24/7. I got nothing done around the house :(

Cry it out doesn't actually apply at this age. Newborns don't simply cry for attention, they usually need something even if we can't seem to figure it out. It could be gas. My son was having trouble sleeping, but when I tried giving him gas drops, he was my normal happy baby again.

I'm not a fan of cry it out but even sleep training experts generally don't recommend leaving a baby to cry until 6 months of age.

My baby doesn't sleep well in a bassinet either. I put him in the crib for the first part of the night and then bring him into bed with me after the first wake up. I nurse him lying down so he falls asleep on the bed and not on me.

You could also try sidecarring a crib so baby is close to you. You could try swaddling. You could try putting one of your unwashed shirts under baby's fitted sheet so the bassinet smells like you.

Ultimately, it's normal and healthy for baby to want to be close to you. So try not to stress about changing baby's behavior and just get sleep however you can.

The baby is still a newborn and is too young for cry it out. The best thing you could do is to try to keep him up a little after day time feedings and let's say you have to do something then go ahead and put him down for a minute so you can eat or go to the bathroom. He's going to cry some but that will just help him to get used to laying down sometimes and not being held. When he gets in a deep sleep try to lay him down. But right now it's too early to do full blown cry it out. He's still a new born. I started doing it at 8 months with my first and it was torture but it was the best thing I ever did. My son start sleeping really good after that.

Thanks everyone. My boyfriend and mom are all about the crying it out, but I am not comfortable with that especially I feel at this early in their life. Ugh.

I would not cry it out yet they are still so young. He just wants to be on mama its comforting to him im sure. Being outside the womb is a huge adjustment for newborns

I have 4 kids under the age of 5

And so many things need to get done around here , but my newborn is my #1 priority when he's fussy .

Try a baby carrier during the day and that should help getting things done around home

I don't believe in crying it out , specially this early. Honestly housework and boyfriend can wait . Give the baby what she wants , and that's mommy .

Thats how my daughter is when she's awake or if she falls asleep while im holding her i cant put her down. But she does like to be swaddled and go for a stroller ride. She seriously hates the car but will fall asleep if i move the stroller a foot lol. So i usually push her until shes super knocked out and then lay her down and it seems to work well for me so far. Also i breast feed and i will lay her down next to me on my bed and feed her until shes asleep

My 3.5 weeker is the same way, as was my first child. It won't last forever! You are his connection and source of comfort as he continues to adjust to life outside your belly. At this age they are too young to cry it out. They will only learn that you won't respond to their needs.

Babywearing works really well for me. I have a wrapsody breeze and an Ergo with newborn insert. My daughter sleeps really well in them (sometimes after a bit of initial fussing). I can move around, sit on the floor with the kids, and get things done.

She also goes through brief periods when she's awake and looking around, so I'm going to try and pick up a bouncy chair this weekend so I can bring her around with me.

Going through the same thing! I cannot bring myself to let the baby cry it out, she's still so young. .. But sometimes I do have to let her cry a little longer than usual because I also have a 3 year old to tend to during the days.

My daughter is also 3 weeks old and she is the exact same way. Plus she wants to nurse all the time. When she falls asleep in my arms during the day I'll try to lie her down but she wakes up immediately. And I agree with pp do what's feels right. One day we will wish we could hold them so much.

At that she they are still adjusting to being out of the womb. You can't spoil a newborn. Do what feels right, they are only this little once.

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?
