My brothers dad died

So my brothers dad died on father's day. He was the typical bitter ex - 30 years after his divorce with my mom he STILL talked crap about her to my two brothers. Like really? He died pretty suddenly after being sick maybe 2 weeks. And his last days were filled with the same petty drama as always - he didn't want his adult children (33 and 35) telling their mother that he was ill. Which caused them to fight and one told my mom everything while the other remained loyal to dad. The loyal one even wrote a beautiful heartwarming eulogy about how wonderful his dad was.

I'm sorry for your family's loss as well.

I'm not sure what the norm is but if I die, everything goes to DH; since it's OUR money, OUR house, etc and he'll have to take care of OUR bills, and DS). But if he dies, 50% goes to me and the other 50% to SS.....

@tooth I think it's the norm... if I'm still alive I'm gonna have to take care of myself and the kids. Plus it's OUR money.

I don't know what the norm is. In your case, it's probably because your kids are children and you would need the money to take care of them. I'm the sole beneficiary of my DH life insurance because our kids are minors. But like I said in the other post, I plan on giving the kids a good start in life and I would never leave them with nothing.

If my dh, God forbid, happens to die before me. Everything goes to me. No children, his nor ours, will receive anything until after I die. Is that not the norm?

It is sad. I think I would feel differently if he didn't make 200K a year (he's a public employee so his salary is common knowledge).

And no. His wife, despite being the boys stepmom for 25 years, is giving them nothing.

That's horrible, I'm sorry for their lose. My father is horrible but I'm sure I'd cry if he passed. Hopefully his new wife isn't spiteful that she won't share with his children.

It is never easy losing a parent... Couple that with the frustration they're likely feeling on being left out of his will, and I imagine this is a very difficult time for both of them.

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

Does your dh/SO cry in front of you?

Does your dh/SO cry in front of you? Dh is having an awful day and pretty much said he ended the relationship he has with his dad and one of his older brothers. They were constantly putting him down and dh got defensive and said some things to his brother and his dad took his brothers side and told dh that since he’s younger than he needs to respect his older brother. A lot more was said and it all started about taxes because his brother thinks he knows everything about owning a business and selling it.

Outrageous! A 5 year old was detained and questioned at his school for taking a toy gun to show his friend. He was so scared he wet his pants and his parents weren't notified until 2 hours into the questioning. He was suspended for 10 days, but it was reduced to the 3 days he had already served after the parents and others complained. The school stated that the situation was handled appropriately and would be handled in a similar manner in the future.
