Going off another post.

Huge dilated pupils and red eyes. Aggressive/irritable, mood swings. Uncharacteristic behavior (staying out all night for the first time ever). He tested positive for marijuana but I think especially since he was acting aggressive it's more than that. What do y'all think he's on?

If anyone from the family is around him often, they would know. It's usually obvious when someone is doing meth. A guy friend of mine had a girlfriend who became addicted to meth and it was very obvious. She lost weight, her face was noticeably different. She developed these marks all over her face. She started avoiding everyone that cared for her in her life and surrounded herself with other drug users. It was sad, really. I could be wrong. I suppose it can effect everyone who does it differently but that's just what happened in her case.

To me, it sounds like some sort of prescription drugs.

I would say some type of upper, like cocaine or meth.

Speaking from my own experience weed wasn't the only thing after 2 years. I was only addicted to alcohol and weed though. Everything else was a very rare thing like if we were going to raves etc...

But when your addicted to weed it's like you need it to relax so you are irritated and agressive at times when you aren't high but feel like you need to be. Yes I mean "need".

People say you can't be addicted to weed, but I for one know you can and it can cause behavior like you are describing.

@mama why do you doubt it's meth? I knew kids in high school on meth, helped them get school work done cuz they stayed up all night

My first thought was Adderall. In the past I knew someone who took it religiously and they acted the way you're describing. I highly doubt it's meth.

Sounds like powder...which keeps u up all night your pupils stay dilated for the most part and when your not always on it u catch attitudes and get aggressive. Powder heads like to fight, they think they're invincible. Now it could be X, which has you like everything you are talking about. Wouldn't say hard because it would have you mellowed out and probably singing and carrying on, he would be easy going. Meth has you a little hype and weird acting like your paranoid all the time. I wouldn't say he is smoking Crack because he would be as hype as a jitter bug..period!!! Or some forms of prescription pills which I am not going to describe because it would take a lot of space. You should try the at home Drug kit. It's a little costly but at least you would know.

It definitely sounds like he's on more than weed. Meth/ adderall are the first two that come to mind with those symptoms, although there's many other things it could be

It's something he's coming down from, I doubt it's pot, if he's been smoking for two year n now this is happening... Pot doesn't make you stay up and party all night if anything it makes you go to bed early... Like a pp said, it could be benzos, meth, adderall ect. It sounds much more than pot. I've never seen pot dilate someone's pupils, it doesn't do that to mine or my bfs. It just makes our eyes red. If you guys tested him for pot maybe get a test that tests for everything. That's your best bet but trying to get him to test might be hard. But I do want to say that pot can trigger mental problems in teenagers, as their brain is still developing so I wouldn't totally put it past you though.

And like pp said, they do use marihuana for those things like depression n stuff, but for adults not kids. It can trigger mental issues in kids/teenagers.

I'm thinking maybe he's taking Adderall or something similar... He's 5th in his class of 400+ kids so there's a lot of pressure for him to succeed. And if he's taking Adderall during the week for homework/studying then it makes sense he would *need* pot to relax.

But again I don't really know, we won't know until my mom takes him for a full drug panel.

Any sort of uppers is likely to be the cause of the mood swings, aggressive behavior, weird sleeping patterns, and definitely is what causes the dilated pupils.

Downers create "pin prick" pupils, very small and unresponsive to light. They tend to have worse symptoms when you're coming off them- physical pain, nausea and vomiting.

Marijuana will cause red eyes but not mood swings, aggressiveness or anything else you listed.

"Uppers" can cause his mood swings and dilated pupils...other than the red eyes, I have never known marijuana to cause these symptoms.

@maalika maybe you should do some research about marijuana because it is KNOWN to help with everything you listed. I know what it helps with because I have a doctor's recommendation to smoke marijuana to help with my anger and bipolar. So before you go and tell somebody to do some research make sure you are correct

Wet maybe? That's the only time I've ever seen anyone act aggressively while smoking pot.

Well he's already tested positive for Marijuana last week and we know he's been smoking for at least 2 years. He's admitted to me. We've only recently begun to suspect he's on something else as well, and no one has confronted him about it yet. We're not testing him to attack him, we're just worried and if it is something more he's going to need rehab.

If it's *just* marijuana then I will be very relieved. But I still think he should be in therapy. I think he's self medicating for anxiety. He's a perfectionist and I can imagine it's difficult for him to relax. I would be happy if he learned different coping strategies besides drugs.

I've been pushing for him to get in therapy for the past 2 years... But it's only now that my mom has been listening to me. ?

We're all on his team. We constantly tell him how wonderful he is and how much we love him. He really is an amazing kid, soooooo smart and hardworking. But if he gets caught doing drugs his future is going to be ruined. He will lose all chances for college financial aid/scholarships and many future career opportunities which require a clear background check (and obviously require a clear drug screen).

I'm really worried about him. He doesn't realize how important the choices he makes now are.

She's going to take him for a full drug screen at his pediatrician unless the counselor has a better idea.

Your probably right he sounds more like he's on a come down from other drugs. Weed don't make you have mood swings it helps with them.

a lot of drugs can make your pupils larger. what pp said as well as amphetamines (meth, mdma like in pills etc), cocaine etc. as for the irritable behaviour if he has been out all night and partying he might be on a bit of a come down which would make him moody, if he is drinking as well that would add to it.

I know benzos or adderall both could make your pupils big. An opiate would make them smaller.

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

At What Age Should a Child Make Their Own Breakfast?

Make your own breakfast! At what age do you think a child should be making their own breakfast? I have a 10 year old and I think he is perfectly capable of making himself breakfast. It doesn't take rocket science to put some waffles into the toaster, or microwave some pancakes. My husband insists that he needs to have breakfast made for him because if we left it up to him he wouldn't eat enough and it would take him forever.

My Pitbull.. My pit who I love so much just went after my female shepherd. I think it's food aggression.. I just fed them and he finished and came to lie down and she hopped off the couch to go eat and he jumped in front of her barked and snapped... he's never been this way. In terrified. Idk what to do! :( I'm scared she's gonna go eat one day and he's gonna full out attack her.. he's not under fed either. He's over fed but very active. He's very slim cause he can't keep weight on. I'm not entirely sure what's causing his aggression. I don't think he would hurt her cause she's his best friend but Idk. He's starting to get very unpredictable..
