where do I start
So I'm finally not broke and I'm starting to buy baby stuff. I'm 21 weeks, due in January. I've bought a few 0-3 mo outfits, a few sweaters.
I am building a diaper stockpile. I have a full stock of newborn 1 and 2 and wipes for about two months I think.
I also garage saled a bunch of clothes and gear. I didn't want to wait until after my shower for stuff because some deals I didn't know if they'd come up again. Plus if an outfit is a buck there is limited guilt ?
Save and go after your baby shower. I wouldn't spend money on a crib right away, just buy a bassinet. We have a nice crib and mistress and my baby won't even sleep in it. Only her Rock N Play. We tried co sleeper bed, bassinet and crib, she hated it all. Keep your receipts, I have had to return a lot of things I really didn't need and she didn't like.
What we did was buy the crib/change table/dresser set and if we saw diapers or wipes on a great sale we would buy them and stock up. Then we waited for the baby shower and got everything! We had to go out and get maybe one or two little things after that, but we are so glad we waited!
I say stock up on diapers and baby wipes first. If you end up needing different sizes or a different brand most stores will let you exchange them in the future. A lot of people will probably get the baby clothes for the baby shower, and probably bath stuff/lotions/etc, the small things. So focus on getting diapers, wipes and a bassinet for the baby to sleep in. And of course bottles if you aren't breastfeeding.
Pfft all my stuff is from thrift stores, I don't have that new clothes money!
Lol thank you ladies as always you are very very helpful. This whole new baby thing is crazy.
And feel free to keep posting more tips!
The only thingss I bought early was my car seat. stroller, crib, got those all on crazy sale and a snuggabunny swing that I got almost new on craigslist for cheap og and some basic clothes sized 0-6months, I just bought stuff whenever I saw it on good sale that I liked.
We added Diapers and everything we wanted we put on a registry (didn't have a shower) and just saved money after I had ds we decided what kind of diapers w liked and df ran to the store and went crazy, used registry coupons and came back with the entire back of our jeep full. He was so proud lol
I didn't know what kind of diapers I would want and stuff so we just waited.
Personally my son was born 2 weeks before my shower. I had gotten my crib, swing, and most of his clothes from a resale site on Facebook. Since he was born early I had to run out and Stock up on diapers, wipes, wash cloths, blankets, receiving blankets, towels, baby soap, lotions, and baby medicines. I had to buy everything the week he was born! It was very stressful but me and my fiancé got through it. When he was around 2 weeks old, after his cord fell off, my mom went out and bought him a baby bath, bouncer, mobile, and a thing that goes on the side of the crib that's sings and ocean animals move around? I don't really have any bigger clothes bought yet. I grab things as he grows out of the smaller stuff. He was little so at 3 months he's just now big enough to be in 0-3 but can still fit in newborn onsies comfortably. When he was 2 months I finally got to put away all his preemie cloths. I would wait until your shower. You never know what people will bring! ?
I would wait to buy clothes until after the baby shower. People love buying baby clothes. My son was over 9 pounds at birth so never wore newborn size clothing.
I also agree on waiting until Black Friday. Even if you don't venture out that night stores will have sales the days following.
Look for coupons and start budgeting now and start making a list of items you NEED. Wait to buy anything until after your baby shower, because most people get you a ton of clothes and nothing else for the shower. Also if you get nothing but newborn sizes at the shower I suggest exchanging some of them for bigger sizes. Also you can look for bigger items at yard sales, in consignment stores, or on local Buy/Sell/Trade pages on FB.
Don't buy too much of the same clothing size.
Blankets
Receiving blankets
Baby bath tub
Try getting coupons for the baby bath stuff (body wash/shampoo)
And footed onesies since it'll be cold out for baby.
Get stuff for u too!
Pads
Nursing bras (a cpl of sizes up)
Nursing pads
Grandma underwear
Set a limit on each week u would like to spend and check things off the list as u go.
Also since it's about to be autumn u can buy clothes that are on sale for spring and summer and do the same when winter starts for autumn sales
I would also save and wait for your baby shower. Also, I would wait until all the sales start happening for Christmas/thanksgiving. My son was born in December and everyone thought I was crazy for not buying anything until right before, but I got everything on sale! You can also put everything on your registry (or make a separate one) and you get a coupon after your shower for a certain % off anything on your registry. You can also make an Amazon wish list (especially if you have prime for free shipping) and wait for things to go on sale, I do this for my sons birthday/Christmas presents!
Wait for clothes, because you'll likely receive some as gifts. Maybe a pack of onesies to start if it makes you feel better.
Are you having a shower? Did you create a registry? That helped me realize what I needed vs. what I wanted.
For big items, try a local moms group on fb, or craigslist (I got a brand new amazing swing for $60 that way! It was worth over $200).
Home ? getting to know each other
There are a few new people so thought id start a post so we can get to know these people ? il start

Well. Just started an IV. I'M GONNA HAVE A BABY!!!! EEEKK!!!
So I keep feeling these lil sharp pains on my right side. You do get pains like that before you start your period right.? Remember I had that dark brown spotting for a few hours last month on the 22. My period suppose to start today.
I'm kind of worried, my niece wakes up crying a few times a night, but I mean crying hysterically and this started after she started going to get bfs parents house. I'm scared to be honest!!!
I'm starting to think they playing with me with my tax money still waiting😥😒
I'd save until after the shower. You will inevitably get a tonne of onesies and outfits and stuff, so it's easier to tell what sizes you need afterwards.
