has anyone ever heard of a baby shower after the baby is born?

has anyone ever heard of a baby shower after the baby is born?

I want to have the gender as a surprise... But that kinda makes having a baby shower pointless... Has anyone ever had a shower after the baby is born?

Where I'm from most people do have the shower after the baby is born. At anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months old.

My 1st we kept the gender a secret but had the shower before birth. We just registered for all the normal baby stuff just in gender neutral colors. We now have 2 girls and a boy with #4 on the way and all the stuff we got at our shower has been used with all of our kids. We ended up being given gender specific clothes when people came to meet the baby. And at Christmas because she was only 1 month old.

There are multiple cultures that think it is bad luck to get baby stuff before the baby is born - so this is the norm.

I figure I have no control over when a shower might be, except to say no. I mean, I'm not the one who hosts it. I've never met a Mom who threw herself one.

Yep. I had one after my son was born. It's fun because everyone gets to meet the baby. :)

With my DS we had the shower after he was born. We bought what we needed right away, like carseat, newborn and 0-3month clothes, a couple blankets, newborn diapers, bottles, breast pump etc. And asked for clothes in bigger sizes. It worked out great!

We had both a shower before baby was born and then after as well (different sides of the family). The one we had before, we got lots of neutral stuff, books, blankets etc. the one after was lovely too because everyone got to meet him.

People have baby sprinkles all the time or some call it a sip and see. If you want to do it before there are cute invites for unknown genders and your registry will clearly indicate neutral choices

You can still have a baby shower just put on the invite your wanting it to be a surprise and to bring neutral stuff.
