Purees then solids
Ok gals, my son only eats purées after breast milk.. when and what do I start him out on now? He's good with grasping things, even with his pinchers at times and always wanting our food. We do give him the mummum crackers once in awhile which he's doing good on. I'm soo scared of choking! Helpp
Update
Our friend gifted us with a couple huge avocados from their tree. I gave my son 3 huge slices and he ate 2 1/2! No chocking(ty god) not even a gag... I was very surprised! He even had a good grip until the last bits turning into mush. Thank you for all your advice ladies!
I've never done purees with Gus. We do baby led weaning so I've started with table food. He usually has breakfast and dinner. As long as it's soft I give it to him. He like green beans, squash, sweet potatoes, banana, avocado, pancake, pasta, beans. I made broccoli and cheese soup this weekend and he LOVED it!
What do you guys think of bell peppers? Anyone give those yet? I've let my son naw on a big slice before but his saliva breaks down the skin etc to where he would get little chunks but (not grossed) I'd take a bite off before it would happen and let him repeat the process.
I have started making more homemade foods for my lil one because he needs to gain more weight so the dr told us to make him homemade veggies and put butter on them for extra calories so far I've made him carrots and green beans and just smush them enough where there is still a little chunk to them and he is learning really quick to chew up the bigger pieces. He hated peas when I made them but I will try them again lol
Haha! So I just peel a whole sweet potato, cut it up in fry shape pieces, toss with olive oil and I add garlic powder or cinnamon but you don't need to. Then I cook on 400 until they just start to brown (I buy the sweet potatoes that are like white/yellow, not the orange kind but either is fine).
You can also probably just buy them frozen ?
Cmc like frozen fries cooked in an oven? ? explain because my husband always has fries in the freezer! Anyways I will try the banana and avocado first! Thank you!
I would try banana or avocado. They may gag. But gagging and choking are two different things. Those crackers dissolve so they would be hard to choke on. But I would try real food. We do banana, avocado, eggs, peas, sweet potato fries, turkey (I know you're vegan just giving an idea on consistency). Watch videos or take a class so you're prepared in case of a choking incident.
First solid we tried was banana. Make sure it's really ripe, brown spots and all, so it's soft and easy for him to mash with his gums.
We let him take bites first, then gave him the banana. If you YouTube BLW, there's a neat way to cut it so it still has skin for him to hold so it's not all slippery and hard to hold. My little one LOVES it. (If you look at my posts, I've got a picture of him holding and eating a banana.)
Avocado is a good one, but hard to hold for LO because of slipperiness.
We've let him take little bites here and there of other things, but we're going to be cooking boiled spears of carrots next.
If you look up BLW (baby-led weaning), there are tons of videos and websites with suggestions for introducing solids. Just remember -- there's a difference between gagging and choking! I also totally recommend an infant CPR class if you haven't taken one. It'll give you some more confidence while also being just a great thing to know.
Are those peaches well ripen or canned? I forgot to mention I'm a veganist, so any advice besides meat, thank you!
I was the same way! She still has he purees a lot of times when I don't fix anything that she can eat. I started out with mashed potatoes.. she has tried a lot of things. Macaroni & cheese, well cooked pasta noodles, sliced peaches, and just anything that is soft or that I can smash up. I haven't tried any meats yet, I'm not sure when to start and so afraid of her getting choked.

Here's my guy ! He's been doing photography and I couldn't be happier . He's so good at it ❤️
They took him away so they can circumcise him. I hope he's doing okay... I'm nervous. 😕😖😔😞

Henry is doing great. He's growing so much he's a week ahead
he's coming today. I really can't do this.
We have just started doing pear slices and he absolutely loves it. I have a ton of pear purée in my freezer, but he would much prefer eating the slices. Try those next.
