Geographic tongue
Any moms experience this with their LO? DS2 is 14 months, and at one of his dr appts months ago, his doctor said he has a geographic tongue. It’s these spots on his tongue that can look similar to thrush, but I looked it up and they’re actually sores. Dr said that it wasn’t anything to worry about and can be common. That was months ago. But now, I’m starting to realize DS2 isn’t eating as much. He’s become very picky and I’m starting to wonder if his tongue is hurting him. This kid used to eat anything and everything under the sun. Any tips to help him to eat more, or foods that won’t irritate his tongue?
My daughter had it & they said it didn't hurt them I guess it's the texture they have on their tounge my daughter is 6 now & she dosent have it anymore my doc said it was normal in smaller kids & my daughter never complained that it hurt. & Maybe he's just becoming a pick eater some kids around 14 months is when they start to pick & choose what they like to eat I doubt it's the geographic tounge he has. & I know theirs days where it might look a little more red but it dosent hurt I would think so too & I would ask my daughter if I could touch it & she would say yea & she wouldn't say it would hurt. Her tounge started looking better after being 4? hope this helps
@monkeys thank you! I feel like a shat mom now because he used to eat oranges alllll the time and he just recently started only sucking some of the juice out of them and then taking them out of his mouth ? I never put 2 and 2 together, that they could be making him uncomfortable and he was getting irritated with it. Is there anything you can use to help soothe it if you get a flare up in pain?
@olivia thanks so much!
