2nd c-section

Mommies, I had an emergency c-section with my first. This time around I am having a planned c-section. Last time I was living on a ground floor apartment. This time it is a 2-storyed home. I have heard that I shouldnt be going up and down the stairs after the c-section. Is that true?

I did everything normally just SLOWER. Well I still kinda ROLLED out of bed and could use my core much. But I felt pretty amazing 6 days after. I came home at 4 days after and had one day of a blur cUz it was the first day home. I don’t remember it impeding my life much except for being scared to touch the scar in the shower and getting in and out of bed.

I side stepped up and down the stairs and that seemed to work for me. Just take it literally one step at a time. You know your body and know your pace, so anything that doesn’t feel right...obviously don’t force. But I didn’t personally have any issues.

I was able to go up and down my stairs after my csection but very slowly and definitely not carrying baby. I’d say it took me about 3 weeks before I was able to go up and down without any worries.

That is a request by the doctors and it can be painful to you at times but as crazy as this idea may sound, walk backwards up the steps! You honestly feel no pain, it less pressure, and it’s less work...I just delivered twins via c-section December 22nd, walking backwards up the steps helped me a lot!

I think it really varies. Definitely important to walk early but take it super easy. Like don't carry baby up stairs just walk slowly. Most women have diastasis recti or an separation & it's usually worse with a c section delivery vs vaginal. If you go too hard you can get a hernia & need surgery. Other complications of pushing yourself post section include wound dehiscence, hemorrhoids, & increased pain.

I have heard that too. About how I have to take it easy now or bear the brunt of it all later in life!

As soon as I got out of the hospital I was up as if I didn't have a C section. My husband's cousin asked me didn't you just have a C section? (She saw I was up and down) she is a RN and told me that I might feel good right now but when I'm older it will affect me badly. So I suggest take it easy, even though you do feel very good

Wow everything? Really? That sounds awesome! I have a 5yo and was paranoid that I will be bedridden and wont be able to do anything at all.

The more active you are, the faster you heal. Just take your time , I was walking up and down the stairs just slowly and by time one week went by I was able to do everything I was doing prior to my c section.
