Baby was measuring 8 weeks

Maybe their dates are off?

DD1 heartbeat dropped from the 150s to the low 80s when I had an ultrasound. She was born 3 days later. I was 31 weeks though. I hope your cousin isn't miscarrying. Shes in my thoughts.

Have people had issues with their doctors finding a heartbeat with an ultrasound machine before? I have never heard of an ultrasound tech mistaking a babies heartbeat with the mothers. Especially since it's visual

It's not me. When doctors do ultrasounds the they measure the babies heartbeat visually on the machine

I would like to make it clear I know normal baby heart rates for all gestational stages. I am just curious about this particular situation which is not normal.

Usually baby's heartbeat is over 100. Like pp mentioned, maybe they heard your heartbeat?? Could still be too early for baby to have a strong heartbeat, too. I did have a miscarriage and baby's heartbeat was in the 70s the week before we lost it, but hopefully that's not your case.

I know it's not right, it means my cousin will probably have a miscarriage. I was just wondering if this ever happened without a miscarriage happening.

that doesnt sound right. i just had an ultrasound at 8 weeks 4 days and heartbeat was 167 which is very normal. 140 is a "low" baby heartbeat.
