ugh family rant!

This may be long and im really just ranting but im so disgusted right now. I found out my cousin who is 40 is pregnant, 6 months pregnant! She apparently didnt know, which i suspect is total bs. Shes a heroin addict whose been doing it while pregnant too and an alcoholic and the father of the baby is an abusive heroin addict also. Well shes too late to get an abortion which im glad about as i dont beleive in them but i dont understand why she refuses to give the baby up for adoption. She is a very unstable, selfish person. I feel so heartbroken for this baby, i could cry. The baby is a girl and will be born into a family of drug addicts and alocholics with a lot of them being absuvie, it makes me sick. Supposedly she is starting a new job that pays well, but currently she doesnt have a place to live, a car or any money. Shes been going to a free clinic to get checked. She will not change either, she has a 20 year old ds whose an a$$, hes an absuve druggie and alcholic and since him shes had 5 abortions. Shes not set out to be a mother at all and im so aggravated by the stupid choices she and the people around her make like its okay...its not okay! Im emotional about all of this as i am 15 weeks pregnant and i just want to shout out that ill adopt her baby but i dont see how i really could with my own on the way. I do however want to call cps like immediately after this baby is born. I just dont trust that this child is going to be in a stable loving home at all and it makes me sick to think of this innocent life subjected to all of my familys bs. Theyre lives are a complete trainwreck and they keep making poor decisions, theyve all been in jail at one poiny or another, the cops know them by name, they are the balck sheep of my family and im completely fed up and disgusted by their lack of respobsibility.

Because there are so many babies born from addicted parents all hospitals drug test both mother and baby. If baby or even mom tests positive for anything, family services will automatically be called, and in that case baby is taken into protective custody

My cousin was using in the beginning of pregnancy but i think shes now just on some prescription med that shes addicted to but its not as severe as heroin, supposedly...this is all being told to me through my mom, from my gram from my aunt who is my cousins mom. Im in new york so i dont know how all this will play out. I guess ill have to do some more digging, shes due in february. She had an ultrasouns yesterday and the tech said baby looked healthy so who knows. I hope thw baby is healthy and doesnt have any long term effects from all od this. I just pray my cousin comes to her senses and just gives the baby up for adoption otherwise she will end up in foster care which isnt always better. I really just want to go kidnap the baby haha and raisw it on my own, this is pulling at my heartstrings big time.

The baby will more than likely be born very underweight or even prematurely. The baby will start having withdrawals because if the mother is using heroin than the baby is too. Most likely it's breathing will be inconsistent and it will twitch uncontrollably and cry non stop without being able to be soothed. Those are all indicators that the baby is withdrawing. The nurses will definitely know what's up. My mom is a nurse and she talks about this stuff all the time.

What state are you in? A lot drug test both mom and baby when she's admitted. In my county they collect moms urine and test babies cord blood for traces of drugs.

They do all that with the hopes of helping the mom better herself, unfortunately a lot of people don't take the opportunities. And with the being drug tested that can go down multiple ways, 1) the baby could be born with withdraws, which the doctors would pick up on easily 2) if she acts suspicious a doctor or nurse could report it and shed be tested 3) like you mentioned, yes you can call her doctor right now and tell them what you know. That is what I did when my sister was pregnant and her doctor tested her

You wont need to call cps because when the baby is born the hospital will report it themselves. Not sure she will even be able to keep the baby, but if she has been received care then they might work with her, either way that baby deserves better. I think they would test them both honestly there is no way they wont notice a baby with withdrawal

If she’s still using wouldn’t things pull up in her system when she’s seeing a doctor?

Honestly, I would report her any way possible. That baby deserves a better life.

Right noq.shes sittong down with some social worker apparwntly who is going to set her up on wic and food stamps and all other kinds of free crap to help raise the baby, so i dont understand how that can even happen if the social worker knew about her current drug problem.

Fat panda and bmoss- really? How would they even know to drug test the baby? Should i callthe hospital the day she delivers to.say something. I really am concerned about the baby and how everyone is so unfit to raise her. Ive never had to.deal with anyrhing loie this. I want todo the right thing for the baby and i could care less about the consequences from my family.

The baby will be taken away in the hospital once they realize it's having withdrawals.

If the baby test positive for drugs when born, the baby will be taken away.

My husbands ex girlfriend did drugs her whole pregnancy until something happened and she went to the hospital and they called a social worker she went into treatment and was clean for about that long and after she had the baby they drug tested her and the baby and cps came in and removed the baby from her care. I hope you can get cps involved i think its horrible that people who get pregnant and can't give up the drugs or drinking for their baby

Yes, my sister is an addict and used through two pregnancies. I felt the same as you where you wish you could do something but there is only so much. But you can make reports to CPS and her doctor about her using and it could help stop her from hurting the baby any more
