PIO Shots
Are they painful? Do you inject it yourself? How many times a day? Where do you inject it? Next week am getting med teach for the injection lol but I what to hear the real deal for you ladies
? mine is the other way around my husband is scared of needles ? i will have to inject myself. Wish me luck
Thank you I’ll probably do morning before going to work. Do you inject it yourself?
Thank you ?? one more question what time do you inject? My doc said it has to be the same time everyday. But can it be done I. The morning or it doesn’t matter the time
Angeliz- I also weigh a little more than 140lbs and I use the 18 gauge to insert and the 22 to injection and I don't feel it that much at all! I promise!!!
You can do this!
What does help is maybe massage the area after a while.... I started getting clumps in my butt (so strange right) and the massages helped smooth out the surface area.
You got this!!!
They sent me size 22 needle ? I also weight 140lbs. I heard numbness is a side effect. I hope it’s not so painful ?
You can also ask for shorter needles depending on your weight. They are long so they will go through the fat and into the muscle, but if you are not overweight you could use shorter ones. I was about 140lb and I'm 5'6". So I didn't have a thick layer of fat on my body. So I got needles that were a 1/2in shorter. I know that's not much but it seemed so much better. Or you could just not stick it in all the way.
Ohh and my butt/leg on my left side ended up going numb after awhile and it didn't hurt much anymore. I'm now 7 months pregnant and my leg is still kinda numb. It will go away eventually, but just so you know.
I really hope so ?. When did you start your shots. My transfer should be Nov 2-3
Omg I just got my PIO ? that needle though!!!! Wow ? you girls are brave!!!
Thanks Steph am so ready. Doc is giving me one bottle first to give it a try because he says it’s painful but you girls make me feel better and I get the real answer
I did it once every night before bed. Warm the oil before injecting it. It will help it go in easier. I just put the vile in some warm water before doing it. I did it myself. It was much easier than asking my husband every night and I could control the pain. Sometimes you'll bleed when you pull it out. That's ok. Also rub it after your done for awhile it will help the medicine get into the muscle and not build up so much under the skin.
Not tested. My issue was my lining was too thick at 17 due to having a polyp. Another doc told my RE that I had space for implantation so RE wanted to do a trial with the polyp but unfortunately it didn’t work and he sent me to another Gyn who did the polyp removal and d&c to remove left over tissue from the chemical. I never had a good lining until I removed the polyp. Hoping this transfer works ????
That's a decent lining ?
Yes so they are very messy and you find the cream comes out within an hour or a bit longer but the oil has delivered the progesterone already. I wasn't a fan of the messiness but I never had a problem. The doc did say it worked the best but also said if I wanted crinone (vaginal gel) or the shots it was my choice. But we just continued.
Was the embryo you lost PGS tested? It's very unlikely it was a progesterone issue with a good lining like that. I had a few early miscarriages before we did IVF and it was a chromosomal issue. Reproductively humans just aren't very good at it (genetically) which sucks but you have your healthy ones now ?
Thank you Panda yesterday my lining was a 9 at cd 3. When I did suppositories it would leak is that normal? I don’t know which to do ? am scared for the needle but also scared that the suppositories won’t work
I never did PIO but did 4 vaginal suppositories a day (800mg) It doesn't go to the blood stream, goes directly to the uterus. The cream melts quickly and the progesterone is in the oil and is absorbed very quickly. Used them til I was 8 weeks and stopped cold turkey and had no problems.
Sorry about your chemical ☹️ they check lining thickness to know if your progesterone is high enough
I did them till 9 weeks (12 weeks now), then did a week of suppositories. Then my RE measured progesterone levels (from what I think the suppositories don’t change your blood progesterone). Apparently all was good because I went off those and have been med free since 10 weeks. I go in tomorrow for an appointment with my obgyn and I hope baby is doing well!
I hope things go better this time around and you get a sticky little bean! Good luck!
How long will you be doing them for? Last month I had a chemical and was doing suppositories but didn’t think that was helping at all. I rather inject myself. I see a lot of success with the injections
The shots themselves aren’t painful, but the next day the area is really sore. I injected mine in my “love handle” area and the day after it felt like someone had punched me! My hubby did them for me, but I did them myself every once in a while and they weren’t bad. I only had to do mine once a day and much preferred them to progesterone suppositories.
You can do it yourself, it’s just a little trickier I found. DH did mine but EOWE he travels so I was on my own. Having the experience was freeing because it meant it didn’t have to rely on anyone to get my injections done.
Remember not to put weight on the leg side that you’re injecting. I always did it standing up, leaning on the counter, looking in the bathroom mirror. The other thing I learned was to be ready with the alcohol swab right away. I had a few injections that sprayed blood when I took the needle out (looked worse than it was because I sure didn’t feel that). They weren’t nearly as painful as I thought they’d be. When I did develop sore spots, I just avoided them with future injections and it wasn’t bad.
You got this!
