Hello ladies am doing ivf next month. I went in today cd 3 but doctors stated that you have to start meds 10 days prior to cycle. Is that true? What medications and where did you get your meds from? What cd was retrieval and transfer? Thank you

Hi, I started my IVF meds on day 2 of my cycle. I had suprecur and gonal f. I had retrieval exactly 2 weeks later but everyone is different - I believe retrieval date depends on how you're responding to the meds. Also I guess your protocol may determine when you start your meds too so perhaps your protocol requires you to start early? GL x

On Wednesday we will discuss the procedure in depth. Today I went for cd 3 monitoring thinking that I could start right away ?.

At my clinic I start estrace n baby aspirin prior to getting AF. Then on cd3 I go in for a baseline n I will also start my stimulation meds that day. Typically I'll stim for 8-10 days n retrieval about 36 hrs later n transfer 5 days after that. I get my meds from teg pharmacy my clinic works with.

Did your insurance paid for the meds or was it out of pocket? If so much you paid

My meds were all out of pocket. The only thing my insurance covered was diagnostic n that's it. I did apply for the compassionate care program which gives u discounts on certain meds (income based) n back in 2013 we got 50% off gnal-f n one other med. This discount is good for one calendar yr. Just recently applied again n only got 10% off but 10% if better than nothing. In 2013, my meds for one cycle was about $3,000 with discount.

How do you apply? Do I still have time since my procedure is next month? Luckily my insurance covers ivf but am not sure about the meds

U need to call ur insurance n find out. Sometimes if it is covered u need to go thru ur insurance pharmacy.
To apply for compassionate care program u will need ur 2016 tax as they need to varify income. U can apply online n they will get back to u within 4-5 business days.
