labor?

How would you describe what actual labor contractions feel like? I'm a ftm and have been having a lot of painful contractions, which don't appear to be doing anything. I just want to know what to be watching out for.

Real contractions feel more like the orgasm contractions you get after sex. Just closer together and involves both sides of your tummy. Sometimes can be two types back labor and front. Braxton Hicks typically harden up on either the right or left side not always the case but for the most part. At the beginning of labor it feels like Braxton Hicks but they get harder and closer together the further you get to having the baby. Your water doesn’t always break and for me there were no other signs.

I asked that same question when it was my first child. The response my mom and mil gave me was “you’ll know.” Boy..... did I know when they were real. I had back labor (and with my 2nd as well). It hurts like a mf!!!! Best way to describe them.

Literally felt like deadly period cramps! In waves! And as they get closer the worse they feel. I literally was holding my breath through each one until I asked for the epidural because I was afraid of passing out. Your belly starts to tighten on its own and pushing baby on its own as well when baby is close to coming out.

I haven’t ever had period cramps before, so that never was descriptive for me!

My first felt like I had minor gas pains/discomfort every 8-12 min for about 8 hours while I was at work. I thought maybe it was just late pregnancy aches and pains. Then the pain started slowly getting closer and felt more like someone twisting my abdomen with their fist. Between them was completely pain free, it was weird! They did make me feel tired, like I had been working out, but for me the main thing was the consistency of them.

Mine didn't feel at all like others describe. The best way for me to put it is that they felt like bursts of electricity starting from very low and moving up my stomach. I felt like I had electric currents running up my stomach. Not painful but certainly NOT comfortable. Extremely tiring and difficult to breath, concentrate through.

Excruciating period cramps. Except mine was with pitocin for induction so it was no gradual onset.

Mine felt like period cramps that started getting closer together and consistent.. had to be induced with pitocin and those contractions are the worst pain i have ever felt and ive broke bones and all kinds of things. My epidural didnt work so that was not fun at all but once i started pushing it helped.ease that pain so much and then once my baby was out all that pain stopped .

For me, I had to rock back and fourth when the pain hit. But I was able to walk and talk through mine. They said if you're unable.to do both, they're real contractions.

With my first my contractions didn't really hurt until I got to 5cm, it was just a tightening feeling in my abdomen and pressure. Even then I could have probably tolerated them but the nurse kind of scared me into getting the epidural early or the anesthesiologist might be too busy later on if I did end up wanting it.

My contractions started out as a dull ache in my back, then they felt like a twisting in my stomach. When I got the the hospital every time I had a contraction I felt like I needed to poop and labored on the toilet lol.

It's very very painful and consistent. When they start to become 5 min apart, pay close attention. It will get much worse then you think. I'm on baby number 3 and with my 2nd I feel like I kinda forgot how bad they really got. I'm starting to have pretty painful contractions myself. They will get to the point you literally have to hold your breath and don't want to blink. But honestly to me, pushing the baby out and all the pressure release is the most AMAZING feeling on earth. It feels so relieving. I know its annoying to hear, but like everyone says, you will know when it happens, unless your super lucky and have those very light contractions.
